Re: Dual Battery Controls and Configuration

Thank you, Jim.
Your article and diagrams are extremely helpful. Much more robust information and clearer detail than the factory manual, actually.

My understanding of the 1 and 2 positions is now much clearer. Looking forward to launching her for the first time tomorrow.

Re: Dual Battery Controls For Dual Battery Configuration On 1996 24' BW Outrage

Morning All, Got out the meter out last night and have concluded the following: - Starboard and Port batteries both tested over 12 volts - Never dropped below 10 volts when starting... - The "All" setting parallels the batteries, presumably for emergency starting. Placard warns against ope...

Dual Battery Controls and Configuration

Our recently purchased 1996 Boston Whaler Outrage 24 boat is equipped with separate battery switches for the port battery and starboard battery. See attached photo for reference. My efforts to understand the proper operational position for these two switches have been unsuccessful up to this point a...

Re: 1996 Outrage 24 Toilet and Bracket

Happy to confirm that the boat is in my driveway and getting a good going over. Also happy to confirm that, as the group suggested, the bracket for the head is in place and ready to receive a new porta potti.

Re: 1996 OUTRAGE 24 Ride and Stability

Moabelite can you please post pictures of your 1996 OUTRAGE 24 when you bring her home. I would like to see your 1996 OUTRAGE 24 in the water with fuel tanks at FULL level. You sound like you will enjoy this hull. Are the Yamaha engines V6 two-stroke-power-cycle engines? Chuck Happily, Chuck - Apol...

jimh—Even Worse!
I've discovered that it is nearly August and she's still stuck in Sarnia. Planning to trailer her over these lovely Michigan highways whenever the importer can get her here. I recently abandoned hope of waiting for the border to open.

Wish me luck.

Re: 1996 OUTRAGE 24 Ride and Stability

This forum topic has been exceptionally helpful to me. I am the new and proud owner of 1996 Outrage 24 with twin 1996 Yamaha 200-HP outboard engines with 240 hours. The operation and performance details outlined make me excited to get aboard a soon as I can retrieve the boat from Sarnia, Ontario, an...

Re: 1996 Outrage 24 Toilet and Bracket

Thanks so much to everyone. I don't have access to the boat which is in Canada and I'm in Michigan.

I can see now what is being referenced. I will take a look when I am next aboard.

ACASSIDY--any photos from your rig would be exceptionally helpful.

Thanks again to all.

Re: 1996 Outrage 24 Toilet and Bracket

PHIL--many thanks for the pointer to the drawing and quick reply. There may be more involved in replacing the missing toilet than just ordering one off the shelf. If my interpretation is correct it looks like the Sani-Potti is the easy part but the base assembly to attach to the track will be more d...

1996 Outrage 24 Toilet and Bracket

Q1: What was the make and model of the OEM toilet in a 1996 OUTRAGE 24? Backstory: a 1996 OUTRAGE 24 that I currently have under contract includes what appears to be a bracket for a toilet in the center console. It does NOT however include the toilet itself. See below. Chemical Toilet Bracket.jpg To...

Tiara Available For Trade for 25-foot Whaler

I currently own a 2004 Tiara Coronet 2900 and a 2006 Boston Whaler Montauk 170. The Tiara is a brilliant boat but has proven to be more than our family needs or has time for. I would be interested in trading the Tiara as part of acquiring a larger Whaler. Ideally something in the 25-feet range. If s...

Re: Inland Waterway: Cheboygan to Conway

My family and I have enjoyed the Inland Waterway for five summers. Our tradition has been to camp at Aloha State Park located on the east shore of Mullet Lake in order to take advantage of the boat wells located there. From there we've used out 2006 Montauk 170 to travel southwest through the waterw...

Re: 2006 Montauk 170 Horn, Navigation Lights

Thanks for the detailed and helpful reply Jim! I made if back to the boat today to investigate further and of course found the horn to be in working order today! Nothing worse than a problem that comes and goes. I was unable to get the horn to fail today and will have to monitor accordingly. I did, ...

2006 Montauk 170 Horn, Navigation Lights

I put my 2006 Montauk 170r to bed last fall with no known [problems]. On the season opening run earlier this month the horn would not work. Upon investigation I found: --the navigation lights are also not working reliably but will occasionally turn on without clear indication of cause for failure, t...
