Cut up a piece of a bow rail or side rail. I junked my rear seat but i can't give up the cross bar as I mounted a couple of rod holders to it.

I don't think the 16-17 hulls float high enough to have no water above the sump like the c.1980 Outrage 18. I had a 2005 Tohatsu 90 TLDI on my 1977 Outrage 21. The boat made over 100 trips out of the harbor every year for 9 years. It never went back to the dealer.
