Those holes on either side are meant for oarlocks. You can sit on the anchor locker and row an older 13-footer with oars. I’ve done it several times—over 60 years ago.

Around 1962, Boston Whaler offered that same hull with a Bearcat 55 engine. My neighbors had one in Megansett Harbor in North Falmouth, Cape Cod. We threw at least five kids in that new unsinkable boat and had a ball.

If I remember correctly, it ran adequately well with the Bearcat 55.

I use Pettit Hydrocoat ECO. A water-based ablative, anti-fouling paint with NO COPPER as a biocide. Fantastic boat you have there.

Well, no production delay, as my new Grady-White FREEDOM 235 boat is at the dealership in shrink wrap with my name written on both sides. Yay!

There is plenty preparation work as well as getting everyone into the water due to huge customer demand here in New England. I’ll be patient.

Butch—you are right: delays could ruin my boating this year. The VP of Sales was up front.

On the plus side, Grady White is Yamaha’s biggest customer. Let’s hope they know who butters their bread. This dealer has been here since 1959, like Boston Whaler.

My choice is Pettit Flagship with the most UV inhibitors. Spectacular results. Long lasting.
Plan on numerous coats. 6 minimum in salt water environs. I did a base of 9, and one or two more for several years.

Yes, you’ll go faster with a 90. That’s the ONLY upside I see. Otherwise the resale value drops, and there is too much weight aft. For my money, if I wanted to go faster, I’d get a 170 MONTAUK with a 90-HP.
