Re: MONTAUK 17, 1986 v. 1989

Q4: Are you going to use use in fresh or saltwater?

Q5: Are you going to leave the boat in saltwater?

Bottom paint is nasty to get off and it devalues a boat.

Q6: were the boats used in saltwater or fresh water?

Saltwater is harder on the boat and the engine.

Q7: What are the engine hours?

Re: 1988 Montauk 17: Battery Location Survey

Re: Sump Pump Drains Battery

You can get a three wire bilge pump that will have a float that will come on automatically and shut off automatically. It also has a manual override.

A mooring cover will eliminate most of the water build up. Hope this helps

Re: Storage on Montauk 170

I usually have two people on my boat–three people would feel crowded. Here are some things I do with regards to storage on my 1998 17 Montauk. Store the anchor, chain and line in the factory built bow locker. Put all life jackets, clothing and anything else that I want to keep dry in the factory sup...

MONTAUK 17 Tackle Center Installation

I have 1998 Montauk. While this is an older style, I believe the console is better built than the newer ones. While the Montauk has limited storage, I tried to maximize the storage area. On the right side of the console, the fire extinguisher indent just holds the fire extinguisher, a small one at t...
