2005 Mercury 90 FOURSTROKE Fuel Pressure Measurement
Hello All. I have been trying to diagnose rough running and misfire on my 2005 Mercury 90 FOURSTROKE, actually a Mercury-Yamaha engine. I am unable to get a fuel pressure reading on the Schraeder valve on the VST [vapor separator tank]. I have tried several fuel pressure gauges from both AutoZone an...

90 HP Mercury Four Stroke (2006)
I have owned [a 2006 Mercury branded 90-HP four-stroke-power-cycle outboard engine for] about ten years. For those not familiar with it, there is a camber in the lower unit for exhaust gas. My engine originally had a bead of sealant on a lip between the lower unit and the drive shaft housing. There ...

Re: Winterizing Mercury 90-HP FOURSTROKE
Thanks for your thoughts guys. We live on Long Island and the weather here has been swinging like a pendulum, but, the garden hose was stored indoors and the [cooling system of the ] Mercury 90-HP FourStroke EFI engine was drained when the 2003 170 Montauk was hauled out about a week ago. Very doubt...

Re: Winterizing Mercury 4 Stroke concern
Thanks Phil. I checked the water outlet and did not find any salt clogs. The [Mercury 90-HP FOURSTROKE] did shoot out a good stream for a few seconds--then almost nothing. This pattern continued for several minutes while I ran the [Mercury 90-HP FOURSTROKE].--Steve

Winterizing Mercury 90-HP FOURSTROKE
Hi All. I experienced an abnormal situation when winterizing our 2006 Mercury 90-HP FOURSTROKE. I hooked up the [hose adaptor for water cooling], turned on the water supply and started the [2006 Mercury 90-HP FOURSTROKE]. [The engine ran at] Idled for about 40-seconds. I did not see the water pressu...

Re: Orientation of Boat In Hurricane Conditions
Thanks Jim,
Boston Whaler Owners manual makes no reference to prolonged in water storage at all.
Back to my other question - motor out of water or in water? Is either more stable or generally better?
Thanks so much.
Steve

Re: Orientation of Boat In Hurricane Conditions
Thanks guys. Bow to the wind makes sense.
Battery is fully charged for the bilge pump. Any other reason to pull the drain plug?
Also, outboard up and out of the water or down in the water?
Thanks again.
Steve

Orientation of Boat In Hurricane Conditions
Hi all. I live on the south shore of Long Island. Our canal is a few canals north of the Great South Bay. The canal faces East-West. I can't pull our 170 Montauk out of the water before Hermine. I do have mooring whips. Which way should I point the boat: east or west? Thanks so much and good luck to...
