Re: 2007 Outrage 210 Re-power

I own a classic Outrage 22, powered by an Optimax 225. This 225 is a strong engine. While it is a bit noisy at idle, I find it to totally fine on cruise when wind noise becomes more significant than engine noise. I went from 2-stroke to 4-stroke on my Outrage 18. I liked the quiet idle, and didn't m...

Re: Outrage 22 Stored on Roller Trailer

I respectfully disagree with the previous post regarding roller trailers. I’ve seen both an Outrage 22 and Outrage 18 with minor depressions from sitting on a roller trailer. It will really depend on how the said roller trailer supports the boat, and how many rollers are sharing the load. Fewer roll...

Re: 1986 Outrage Classic 18 foot - engine height

There are a few others with a Honda 130 on the Outrage 18 and they are seeing low to mid 40’s top speed WOT. The Outrage 18 I had powered with a DF140 Suzuki would just touch 44 with a light load, but I liked it better when under-propped for a top speed of 41-MPH, because I got better acceleration f...

Re: Outrage 22 Stored on Roller Trailer

The top aft edge of the transom shows a crack across the full width. This may indicate some moisture in the transom, which is repairable, but adds more uncertainty to the health of the hull. I too would suggest looking for another candidate.

Re: Dauntless 220 Re-power

This has been a good read. I would consider the [Suzuki] DF200A if ever re-powering my Outrage Cuddy 22. If this [220 DAUNTLESS] were mine, I would still look carefully at the engine mounting height, as suggested above. If the engine is too low, performance and economy is not yet optimized. A whaler...

Re: Boston Whaler Introduces the 2018 170 MONTAUK

Many of the 2018 170 MONTAUK hull dimension--except the LOA--are very close to those of the classic Outrage 18.

If a 2018 170 MONTAUK fuel tank was larger, then the 2018 170 MONTAUK would almost be the equal of a classic OUTRAGE 18--a beautiful boat.

Re: 1984 Outrage 22 Re-power

Of the many possible used Yamaha choices, it depends a lot on how you want to use your boat. Do some searching for Outrage 22 repower, and you will find accounts of everything from F150's through F225's. Lighter is better. Current four-stroke-power-cycle engines include the 490-lbs 2.8-liter F175 or...

48q Igloo Marine fits, albeit snugly. It will contact both the seat and floor with a slight interference fit. I put a bungee around the seat legs to keep the cooler from sliding aft.

Re: 1989 Outrage 22 Re-power

Guardian 22's had a max transom weight specification of 720 pounds, and many treat this as a good guide for the Outrage/Revenge models. Also, if your boat has the 129 gallon fuel tank, transom weight is a larger concern due to the fuel load being carried further aft in the boat. If you have the 77 g...

WTB Mills Mooring Cover for Outrage 22

I'm looking for a Mills mooring cover for an Outrage 22. My boat is actually a 1984 Outrage Cuddy 22, but I'm confident the open boat cover will work, plus Mills do not make one specifically for a Cuddy. I'd like to check if anyone has one in good condition they'd sell, before I go buy a brand new o...

I also plan to mount a T9.9 Yamaha on my OUTRAGE CUDDY 22. As my boat has the older design splash well, I plan to have a custom riser built to raise the transom 5" on each side of the engine, then bolt an XL (25") shaft kicker to the riser. The riser will be built strong enough to support ...

Re: Renovation of 1988 Outrage 18

I stared in this picture a few years ago, so have a little to offer. 1. Ask yourself if the Outrage 18 meets your needs, and if you can see it doing so for the next 5 years. 2. Ask yourself if its just a boat, or if you love it. If you can answer yes to 1 and love it, I'd say proceed to repower. It ...

Re: Buying new trailer, Single v. Tandem

I have a single axle under my Outrage 18, and a tandem under the 22. Both are galvanized steel trailers with torsion axles. I much prefer towing the tandem as it tracks better and is much less bouncy. A puncture is much less likely to be a dangerous event on the tandem. If it were me, I'd select the...

The originals are 11.5-inch long. The "top of the base board" to "top of top" dimension on a teak RPS is about 10.5-inches, so 10-inch tubes will be too short. I just measured both.

Perhaps the G1's will remain available for repowers?

Look at this spec sheet for the G2 200 HO (3.4L block) http://www.evinrude.com/content/dam/evinrude/Global/MY2017/Documents/Spec-PDFs/PY17-Ev-Specs_G2_200H.O..pdf I don't understand why Evinrude bothered building a 200hp with the 2.7L block, as it has only a 9lbs weight advantage over the 3.4L!

Re: OUTRAGE 22 Gunwale Boards

By adding weight to the stern of the boat with the larger tank, the weight balance is going to move further aft. I'd suggest considering a modification to reduce the chances of water coming over the stern and on to the floor, which is pretty common in a following sea with the pre 1989 22's. In consi...

Two late comments to add to counter one of the posts above. - At midrange rpm, the DF140A as MORE responsive than my previous carbureted 2.6L V6. For example, accelerating from 25 mph to 35 mph happens very quickly. - The DF140A has less low rpm torque, so can be described as less responsive at low ...

When I was shopping for my re-power, I could have chosen an E-TEC 135 H.O. for the same price I paid for the Suzuki DF140A. Perhaps shop a few more dealers on the E-TEC.
