Re: 15' Super Sport trade or WTB Montauk 17'

I own a 15' SS with a 1988 Evinrude 70hp which runs great but considering it's age I'm concerned about it's reliability. I'm looking at re-powering with a 70hp Yamaha. I would love to know how you like the performance of your boat. Do you know the top speed with one person? Mine is around 35kts but...

I'm interested in buying the boat if the price was right and you would consider a sale versus a trade! I'm in North Carolina but would consider meeting halfway!

Cheers,

Thanks Robin,
I’m not selling the 15 until after I find a 17.
I wouldn’t want to be boatless. :)

15' Super Sport trade or WTB Montauk 17'

Total long shot I know, but anyone looking to trade a 17' Montauk for a 15' Super Sport? Clean fresh water only boat (original gel coat, never bottom painted), 2014 Yamaha 4 stroke 70hp with 52 hours. Hull and all wood are excellent, full set of cushions, large fuel tank and trailer. Looking for a 1...

It came up for sale in a Facebook group. https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-wMBwZMp/0/3efc66c7/M/i-wMBwZMp-M.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-QT5KNHD/0/d584f8b6/Th/i-QT5KNHD-Th.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-8hhd8mq/0/0bcb8941/Th/i-8hhd8mq...

Re: 1995 Montauk for Sale

Thank you Ron.
We made the 2400 mile round trip to get the boat to its new home in Maine with no problems.
The boat is in amazing shape and now we just need some boating weather!

Re: WTB 17' Whaler (preferably in New England)

Thanks,
I should have specified that I am looking for a Classic Whaler style 1980s or 1990s, not the newer style 17.

Still looking. I haven't been able to find one close enough that it doesn't get bought out from under me yet.

Re: CONQUEST: Yamaha Two-cycle v. Honda Four-cycle

Just to finish this off, I drove the Conquest with the 225 Hondas today. It was full of fuel and 3 people on board, same as the boat yesterday. It got up on plane quickly, only a few seconds (like 3 or 4) slower than the one with the 2 stroke Yamahas. It wasn't a problem at all, maybe 3 seconds slow...

Re: CONQUEST: Yamaha Two-cycle v. Honda Four-cycle

Sea trial of the Yamaha powered boat went fine, but the boat is in rough shape. It jumped up on plane with no problems at all, and was full of fuel.

I will be going back to the Honda powered boat for a sea trial.

Re: CONQUEST: Yamaha Two-cycle v. Honda Four-cycle

Thanks. The Honda engines are 2003 vintage, and they have four-blade propellers. That boat was clean, but now I am concerned about the planing. The broker would not allow a sea trial until an offer is placed. I sea trial the one with the old Yamaha engine today.

Re: CONQUEST: Yamaha Two-cycle v. Honda Four-cycle

The hulls are the same, 2000 Conquest 28 boats. My goals are for long term engine reliability. I rarely go offshore. I'm used to noise [from a two-stroke-power-cycle engine]. New four-stroke-power-cycle engines are nice, but everything I read about the 2000 Yamaha OX66 engines says they are workhors...

CONQUEST: Yamaha Two-cycle v. Honda Four-cycle

I'm looking for some first hand experience [with two-cycle and four-cycle outboard engines]. I [may buy one of] two used Conquest boats. One CONQUEST has [twin] 2000 Yamaha 250-HP two-stroke-power-cycle outboard engines with super-low hours. The other CONQUEST has newer Honda F225 four-stroke-power-...

WTB 28 Conquest

WTB: Boston Whaler Conquest 28(ish). I have decided to move up from my 25 Revenge WT and am looking for a newer Whaler. I'm looking for something ready to go in the under $100K price range. I found my 25 Revenge through this site, as well as my 15 Super Sport (cant seem to recall my old screen name ...
