Re: Problem with Water in Fuel Tank Cavity

Gubernaculum, The following relates to the classic Outrage 18: There are two sets of collars for the console/rigging tunnel area. One collar attaches to the console storage floor to keep items from dropping into the rigging tunnel. This collar is simply fastened with screws, no sealant necessary. Th...

Re: Morse controls

Guitarfish, your boat was equiped with a Morse MT2, no longer made. The Morse MT3 is very similar looking but dimensionally quite different. The Morse MT3 is a redesign of the Morse MT2 but certainly not a drop in match. You will find quite a few Morse MT2' s on the selling sites in various conditio...

Re: Repowering 1989 Outrage 18

I am counting on only the higher engine mounting of 2 holes up to increase rpm. I didn't mean to suggest the stainless steel propeller would contribute.

Re: Repowering 1989 Outrage 18

I have a 1988 Outrage 18 with a 2005 Yamaha F150 TXRD. [The engine] is strong and quiet. [The boat] came with an aluminum Yamaha 14.25 x 19 propeller, which I've been running. The engine mounting height was one-hole-up [when the following performance data was collected]. [Boat speed was] 47 to 48-MP...

Re: Stainless Drain Thru Hull

RichS--no help here, but we're on similar paths. Yesterday (June 10, 2019) all five of the (brass) drain tubes were replaced on my 1988 OUTRAGE 18, with Tom W. Clark doing the heavy lifting. All five were original from 1988 and showed no signs of leaking, but the tubes did show deterioration only vi...

Whaler Restoration - Seattle

Pacific Fiberglass co-located in Canal Boatyard in Ballard is who I'd use for restoration of a Boston Whaler. Yes, they work on a lot of yachts but they love little boats, are fairly priced, and deliver excellent workmanship. I have seen a few Outrage 18 boats in their yard For an OEM-looking fuel t...

Re: Trailer set up for 1988 Outrage 18

I see from the picture an elevated bow roller. My current trailer has a clam shell looking support, like an open book, to support the bow at a very sharp deadrise. I have never seen one before but was an option in 1988 with the trailer manufacturer, Shoreland'r. It works extremely well to capture th...

Re: Trailer set up for 1988 Outrage 18

Thank you Jim, good advise. Like you and others, I have been mounting keel roller panel brackets in pairs, two per cross member. Standard stainless hardware is so much easier to source than stainless u-bolts. In regards to the boat sitting higher due to chine width restrictions, we have a solution u...

This is a Shoreland'r galvanized trailer with spare and mount, side guides, bearing buddies. Condition of trailer 5/10, condition of tires 7/10. I have used for two years without problems. Couldn't attach a pic but take a close look at the parts manual exploded view. Follow the fuel tank forward strap attachment to Starboard and "PRESTO" you will see it depicted; easy to pass by.

Mike, it is a pristine example. I purchased from second owner, and both first and second owner lived in Portland OR. A complete freshwater boat stored inside. And fear not, there are now fresh "DO NOT DRILL' and "NO DRILL" placards from Magic Brush. That wire you see to Port is for th...

Re: Outrage sump pump

As frontier suggested, the automatic pump cycling can be annoying to some people. I am definitely one of those people. My 1988 Outrage 18 had one in the splash well and one in the cockpit sump. Drove me bananas thinking about them chipping away at the battery. They are indeed nice and compact but th...

Outrage 18 Rigging Tunnel Dam

It really bothered me that rain, salt water, washdown water, sand, ect... could easily get behind the Port cowl that covers the fuel fill hose and vent line. The cowl even has a relief at the forward base that encourages this water to travel behind. It then drops into the rigging tunnel then right o...

Outrage 18 Full Cover Vendors

I have spent a bit of time researching a cover for my newly acquired 1988 Outrage 18. Of course, a cover from Wm. J. Mills & Co. is the purist's choice. A friend of mine just took possession of a Westland Exact-fit cover for his 1984 Outrage 18 from RNR Marine. I found a Carver-made cover at RNR...
