On a 1986 FRONTIER 25 there are twin Evinrude E-TEC 150-HP engines. At 4,100-RPM engine speed the boat speed is 34-MPH. I took the latch apart and lo and behold the name was right there. Adams Rite MFG Co. HE87 was the model number. Thank you all for the input.

I have read on other forums that replacing the whaler drive bracket with an aluminum Armstrong style bracket reduces significant weight on the transom. If you're going for all original then I suspect there will be a lot of work to do if that needs rebuilt. Are you trying to keep this all original?

I laminated the first layer of ply onto the existing top skin and vacuum bagged the assembly down to the flat concrete. It turned out well and is quite straight. The little amazon vacuum pump ran all night and didn’t overheat. Progress is slow but coming along.

What type of loctite will you use to fill the holes in the wood? I probably wouldn’t use liquid nails but would use thickened epoxy. More speedy but it will have a better bond. Liquid nails will hold the wood fine until it’s glassed if you’re on a tight budget.

I was able to do some more work on the deck lids today. Most of the time was spent grinding the underside of the top skin. The areas where an inspection port was molded needed the most grinding. The Sentry 19 I had would not since its around 4000 lbs (guesstimating). Some other 19ft models just barely would work. Your tire tread will tell the real story if the wear is on the inside of the tire then the tires are splaying out too much.

Any update on this?

I may have to service the trim unit on my 2006 Mercury OptiMax engine sometime this winter.

Believe it or not, those pumps are made by Parker Oildyne. The stuff coming from their China manufacturing plant is usually pretty good.

So far the boat has been on Flaming Gorge dozens of times, and we trailered it to Dana Point, CA and fished around there and crossed to Catalina and back. Not too bad for my first ocean run....
