As a start, these are MANDATORY in my mind for a new owner with kids: 1) a boating safety course (usually given by the AUXCG) 2) wearing the PFD's at all time (put them in at the dock) Regarding the launching routine (prepare up the ramp, remove tie-down, put the plug in, set the ropes ready, etc), ...
