Re: Bimini v. T-Top

I have had both and I can confidently say; if you ever have a T top you will never go back to a Bimini. Yes, the T top gives more wind resistance and it is more difficult to cover. However, in a center console boat it gives excellent shade, provides great rod storage while under way, provides a grea...

Re: The Market for Outboard Engine Re-powering

Like most all problems involving consumer products, the free market, if left to its own devices will solve all the problems associated with outboard engine weight. Outboard manufacturers are going to build what they can sell most at the most profit, as it should be. I would imagine the re-power mark...

Re: E-TEC v. Yamaha: Non-Evinrude Testing

My 75 etec is lighting quick getting my 1977 Montauk on plane and has great throttle response under way. I'm sure a 4 stroke 90 would run off from me on top end but I could leave it in the dust (mist?) on takeoff.

Re: 1988 Montauk 17 Re-power

I put an E-TEC 75 on my classic Montauk, it runs great, and I've been very happy. That said, I rarely have more than two people in the boat. If I were going to regularly carry more than two people or heavier loads than a cooler full of ice, a tank of fuel, and fishing rods and tackle, I would defini...
