JimH: no - that wasn't Larry in the salmon-colored shorts. It was one of his passengers. They were all wearing Whaler shirts, by the way. My son in our SUV was wearing his Whaler hat, too! Sister Bay is a great place. While filling up, I had three people come by and compliment the Everglades.

The Everglades 230DC is a battlewagon. It feels super solid and is probably quite heavy for it's size.

Too bad they don't make it anymore, just the 340DC, but that's $450k+, so just a bit out of our price range. Only $350k higher than we'd ever spend on a boat.

I tow a 190 Montauk with a Sprinter van with a 4 cylinder 161 HP engine. Launched on some steep ramps. Even launched and retrieved an Everglades 230DC with the van, and that's a 6000 lb boat-trailer combo. I think you are totally fine with the Transit Connect.

I can't speak directly to your questions, as we were looking at 23' dual consoles, but with the Whaler, I liked the bench aft seating rather than the jump seats on the Grady. I'm not sure the Dauntless will have an excessive wake, but I understand what you are saying. We are pretty athletic and snow ski quite a bit, so if it were to have a bigger wake than our Montauk, we'll just treat the wake as a liquid mogul.

Tena said they can build up that stern seat bench. Expensive, but an option for us. The other option would be high-quality deck chairs, so we'll look into that as well.

Thanks Jim. Yes - that jives with the advertised model (1993 Outrage 21)! Pictures didn't show the hull to well, so I wanted to confirm that.

The other option is a 1999 Outrage 23 with new twin Yamaha 150s. I'm not sure of the cost on this one yet, though.

For lounging about, the Dauntless seems ideal. For fishing and heavier seas (Lake Michigan), the Outrage seems ideal.

If I rebuild a 2019 190 Montauk with the same options I have on our 2017 190 Montauk, the 2019 is about $10,000 more expensive. ($56,200 vs $46,300) That's a 21% increase in 2 years.
