Re: E-TEC Engine: Love or Hate
I love my 2010 E-Tec 150 on a 190 Montauk. I purchased my Montauk new in 2008 and I just could not deal with the Merc 115 that came with it. I put the 150 on and it felt like I had just bought a high performance boat. My only problem with the E-Tec is that I have had to change out 2 fuel pumps, that...

I finally decided to purchase the Raymarine EV-100 Autopilot which I will be installing next week on my 190 Montauk. My nine-year-old Raymarine S-1000 Autopilot looks like it passed away yesterday when I took the boat out for a spin. The autopilot would engage but it just would not follow a straight course. Due to its age I have decided to replace this unit with the new Raymarine EV-100. While looking over the man...

I can vouch for the 190 as I purchased one brand new in 2008. I bought it with the 115 which I regretted the first time I took her out. 6 months later I sold the Merc and bought a new E-Tec 150, never looked back. It's a great all around boat. I have taken her out 30 miles off the coast with no prob...

Good luck on your sale Butch, I know it must of been a hard decision to make. I lost my wife of 25 years last week to Cancer and I seriously considered selling my 190 also, luckily I came to my senses and will hold on to my boat till my body tells me otherwise.

Re: Dual Purpose v. Starting Battery
I don’t think I should have a problem. The most I would use the battery with the engine off is the stereo maybe for an hour or less. I also have the batteries on a continuous battery maintainer, maybe that’s why my last pair of Optima-brand batteries lasted over nine years.
