Re: 160 Dauntless Re-power Mercury 115 FOURSTROKE

Thanks for reporting your experience.

I would have expected top speed around 44-45 MPH @ something close to 6000 rpm (max rev).

Re: 2003 DAUNTLESS 160 Sea Trial

I currently own a Dauntless 16 with the old 90 mercury 2 stroke carb. The stock prop for this engine was the Aluminium Black Max 13*19. Top speed for this set up was 39,3 mph @ WOT (5500 rpm) (numbers from BW). I attach here the perf data sheet I could grab from BW. You'll get then all speed data fr...

Re: 1970 16-footer with 90-HP

Chris--I am not an expert in propeller and engines setup. We have in our family a 1966 16 Sakonnet, the same hull as your 16-footer. Our Sakonnet is currently equipped with a Yamaha 70 four-stroke and reaches about 38-MPH. We own it since 1966, and it has been equipped with: ⋅ 50 merc &sdo...

Re: 160 Dauntless Re-power Mercury 115 FOURSTROKE

Hey Brian, I will certainly, in the coming years, have to change my engine as well. Same boat as yours (but from 1999, with notch in the hull) and I have the 90 HP 2 stroke mercury (same family as your 115) and my current prop is a Stlitto 13 1/4*17 pitch, so same profile and specs as your Michigan ...

Re: Dauntless 16 re-power

I've looked at the large gearcase models of the mercury 115 HP 4 stroke (CT models) that may be a good idea for the dauntless 16. Compared with small gearcase, the gear ratio is 2.38. I did a quick prop selector on Mercury web site that ended, for SS props : - Mirage plus : 23/24 pitch - Tempest Plu...

Re: Dauntless 16 re-power

Thanks Butch, Much appreciated Both regular and Pro XS are based on same platform : 4 cycle engines, 2.1l, 115 cv. Weight 359 lbs. Optimax range seem to have been discontinued (at least for Europe). So, we have same engines, but the Pro XS is supposed to have more (hidden) HP. Talking with my Merc d...

Re: Dauntless 16 re-power

Thanks,

I've basically read all the threads, even in the old forum, but my question was about the new Merc offer in 115 hp range. All threads relate different engines.

Dauntless 16 re-power

Hello, I am still using my Dauntless 16 with the stock Mercury 90-HP two-stroke-power-cycle engine. I'm happy with the current settings: —stainless steel Stiletto 13.25 x 17-pitch propeller —engine mounted 3-holes-up Compared to the stock setting (aluminium black max 13*19 and only 1 hole up), perfo...

Re: c.2004 160 Dauntless OptiMax 75

I have a 1999 160 DAUNTLESS. The only difference may be the notch in the hul. All the rest is similar. My 160 DAUNTLESS is equiped with the stock engine, the Mercury 90-HP two-stroke-power-cycle engine that still runs well. I had to change the propeller. When I bought the 160 DAUNTLESS its propeller...
