Wanted to buy: an 18-pitch right-hand rotation propeller for E-TEC150. My [boat’s] bottom must be getting dirty because engine speed is down 300-RPM with the 19 pitch Viper that I have now.

[In reply to the implicit question about what models of Boston Whaler boats in what years had fuel tanks from what materials]: my 1999 Outrage 17 had an aluminum tank. I just replaced the aluminum tank.

rpm range is 4850-5850 on this engine according to the owners manual. The anti-ventilation plate isn't above the water.

Got the Viper prop changed to a 19 pitch on the Gen 1 E-tec 150 and ran it last night. Got 48.9 mph against the wind and 50.5 mph with the wind. Wide open RPMs were between 5500 and 5700. An E-TEC 150 on 1999 Outrage 17 is mounted all-the-way-up [possibly means mounted three-holes-up from the lowest position--jimh] and has a Viper 17-pitch propeller. I noticed [repeated oscillation of the bow] with the old engine. I was hoping to pick a stern-lifting propeller for the new [legacy E-TEC] 150 .

The [1999 OUTRAGE 17] boat was empty except for a 12-gallon fuel tank under the RPS. The new [E-TEC 150-HP legacy engine] is 15 or 20-lbs lighter [than a previous engine] so that should help a bit--plus I replacing the inboard fuel tank.

I am most interested in stopping the bouncing when I trim the motor.

The dealer is saying [the propeller pitch that is appropriate for a new E-TEC 150 should be a 17-pitch, but [the 1999 OUTRAGE 17] had a 19 pitch [when it was powered by] a [Mercury 135-HP OptiMax].

[I am wondering] if Tom Clark or another expert would give their opinion?
