Restoring 1977 17-foot Hull for Eventual Sale
Give me advice on which of three routes to take to restore my 1977 17-foot hull that has been customized and then sell it. The hull has a console from a Carolina Skiff. The three options are ⋅ restore it to a SPORT model with the mahogany benches, and re-power with a 75-HP. ⋅ cre...

Re: 1973 Montauk 1 Power
I advise against overpowering. I have a 1977 SPORT with a 100-HP Yamaha. I am unsure I’d be comfortable with the extra 15-HP.
I suggest to not go over the horsepower limit. I estimate that boat will do close to 55-MPH. I am unsure I want to do that in an older hull.

Re: New York Boat Education Law
Most folks have taken driver education classes before they can get their license, but that doesn’t prevent many of them from driving like fools on the highways. putting other people in hazardous situations because of their recklessness won’t be solved by some required class or a printed certificate....

Re: New York Boat Education Law
Having grown up in NY I can say the state has a lot of great things. Great governance it does not have. I left years ago due to taxes and ridiculous laws. Nothing has changed. Glad I went South when I did. Hopefully someday the state will get some real leadership. If you think the boat laws are oner...
