Re: My Boston Whaler's steel oil tank bracket
So I removed all the old tank bracket. Getting all the rust stains out is impossible.I tried liberal doses of Davis' FSR - Fiberglass stain remover and half a bottle of CLR - Calcium Lime Rust remover. I got about half of the rust stain off. What is left is going to stay. http://i96.photobucket.com/...

Re: Outrage 18 restoration on TV show
Cutting out the full-width splashwell dam was a mistake. That horizontal bulkhead running across the stern adds structure to the hull. It did, but at what cost? A non draining unsinkable boat? They reinforced the transom and I'm sure of the other perceived lost strength was made up in the deck bein...

Except for the toe stubbing bow cleat I like it. Probably a few other things I would do differently, but overall she got a custom boat and probably doesn't care about "classic Whaler" look. Odds are, if the tank was installed correctly, she will never have to worry about the tank again. As...

[A reason to not get any bow railings would be because of] poor installation leading to water intrusion and spider cracks around all the stanchions. The GO series from Simrad looks to be a winner at the features for the price point. The only negative I found so far is the lack of an ethernet port. Just curious, do you find the autopilot tracking is adequate with the Point1-AP? Also in the first image: I see some butt splices. I really hate to see butt splices in electrical conductors on small boats. I would certainly think not.
Still like the boat? Adjust the offer to what you can afford along with the affordability of replacing the outboard.
Could be the cost of that repair is why the boat is up for sale.
