Re: Early Suzuki Fuel Injection Reliability
Thanks for the insight. You make some good points. The engine in question is an extremely clean, freshwater used example. I'd love to get a nice Mercury or Evinrude but this is the best option right now. Thank you, I will probably decide on it.

Early Suzuki Fuel Injection Reliability
I am considering a re-power with a 1999 Suzuki 115-HP two-stroke-cycle engine that is equipped with electronic fuel injection. I know most Suzuki outboard engines nowadays are fuel injected, and I have yet to hear any truly negative things about those systems. However I have not been able to find mu...

Original post has been updated.
Maverick, I appreciate the offer for a classic outboard but I would prefer something a little newer.
dtmackey, that's a nice looking motor but I am in need of a short shaft (15"). Thanks for the offer!

WTB: 40 to 50-HP Short shaft in New England
Hello. I [want to buy] a 40 to 50-HP short shaft (15") outboard to put on my classic 13 footer. Preferably something new enough to not have points ignition. My first choice would be a Mercury or Yamaha but I'm open to other brands. I am located in Massachusetts but am willing to travel anywhere...

13-footer 25-HP Engine
My [restoration of a 1968] 13-footer is nearing completion. It's now time to power it. Most of my local ponds and lakes have horsepower limit of 20-HP for two-stroke engines and 25-HP for four-stroke engines. There aren't any new 20-HP two-stroke engines available, and I'm going toward a new 25-HP f...

Good Alternatives to Mahogany Wood
I am restoring my [1968] 13-footer. The hull is almost done, and I'll be moving onto the interior soon. But the cost of mahogany lumber is going to be more than what I paid for the entire boat, motor, and trailer combined. I know mahogany is one of the best woods, but there has to be other types of ...

13-footer Transom Reinforcement
I am currently restoring a 1968 13-footer. The engine is an Evinrude 40-HP short-shaft. Being a rounded transom, I know I need to make some sort of shim in order to get the motor to sit flat on the back. However, I was thinking about killing two birds with one stone: reinforcing the transom with a 1...
