1989 Outrage 22 Fuel Gauge Replacement

fuel.JPG Hi. I have a 22 Outrage and I noticed the other day, regardless of the fuel level, my fuel tank level gauge was reading Empty. I opened the access port, unscrewed and removed the sending unit and gauge. The tank is the original 77-gallon tank from Florida Marine Tanks. Recommend a replacem...

Re: Odd Squares on a 1989 22 Outrage

...the pattern looks like a boat stand (jack stand), and perhaps as the boat was painted, and then the stands shifted to cover the area of the jack stands, the amount of paint, or quality, or something or other, was different.... This makes a lot of sense - that certainly does look like a boat jack...

Re: Odd Squares on a 1989 22 Outrage

Trailer has rollers for the keel and bunks on the side. This boat has been in my family since around 2001 and since then nothing has really happened to it under our care. I'm 100% positive this would have had to occur before we owned the boat. We bought the boat with bottom paint and over the years ...

Odd Squares on a 1989 22 Outrage

Hello,

I am getting around to restoring an 1989 22' Outrage and noticed that as the bottom paint was wearing off, I could see a distinct square on each side of the hull. Is anyone familiar with that these are or could have been?

Thanks for the help - unfortunately Stiletto has been out of business since 2013 or so, and the website you linked does not have any stock

Re: Classic 16 Performance and Propeller Advice

Update - I was finally able to test the boat with the new raised engine height. I was able to hit 5500 RPM trimmed out. Before motor was raised I would bounce around 5200 RPM. Boat speed surprisingly did not change much, I still topped out at 31 MPH. I put 40 miles on the boat through some pretty ro...

Re: Currituck Railing Screw Replacement Size

I ended up going with [No. 10 1-inch screws being sold by an Amazon reseller with an oval head and Phillips drive] and am extremely happy. It seems to be almost an exact replacement. Even the threads look identical. [These screws are stainless steel alloy or grade] 304 and not 316 SS, but they worke...

Currituck Railing Screw Replacement Size

Has anyone replaced the screws on their railing on a classic 16? If so what size screw did you replace it with? The original ones are 3/16" x 1", so I'm thinking some #10 x 1" stainless wood screws will do. I had some of the original screws on my 1965 Currituck railing stripped out. I...

Re: Classic 16 Performance and Propeller Advice

I was able to raise the motor this weekend. Take a look at the pictures and let me know if this seems right. It was raised just about 1.5 inches. I was not able to use the top mounting holes, so I will either have to fill them up and drill new ones, or test using the outboard clamps. The bottom of t...

Re: Classic 16 Performance and Propeller Advice

I will raise the engine this weekend and hopefully get out one of these days to test.

[Give me an] idea of the fuel economy of this set up. I've never gotten around to testing, but I figure I must get be getting [over] 6-MPG cruising at 4200-RPM and boat speed of 21 to 22 MPH.

Re: Classic 16 Whaler Prop / Performance Advice

I understand I have half the rated horsepower on the boat, but I think the benefits of having a light engine on this non-smirked hull are severely overlooked. This boat handles great and feels well balanced. I can cruise at 25-MPH all day, which honestly, unless the sea is flat calm, is plenty fast....

Re: 17 Montauk repower with new Merc 60hp

Those 2 Stroke Tohatsus are great engines. If compression is good, you could clean the carbs, service the water pump and lower unit, change spark plugs, and have a very reliable engine.

Classic 16 Performance and Propeller Advice

I have a 1965 Classic 16 with a 2000 NISSAN 50-HP Model NS50D2 two-stroke-power-cycle engine using a stock propeller. The engine weighs about 180-lbs. I just had it out on the water the other day and [the boat] ran perfectly - but I think there is some room for improvement in speed and economy. This...
