Re: Boston Whaler Boat Show

I would speculate that if you have a extra $600,000 to $900,00 laying around to buy a boat that you are probably going to use for five months that changing 24 spark plugs ,winterizing ,general upkeep, and even having a trailer are not going to be a concern. Now, for me the storywould be a completely...

Re: 1987 27 Center Console/Cuddy Re-Power

Sorry I do not have the exact hull or outboard but I hope these comments may help you with your choice in engine. I have a 1987 27 FULL CABIN with twin 230-HP inboards. My boat [is] heavier than yours. but the hull is the same; that's from where I draw my opinion. I know an outboard is lighter and m...

Re: 2008 285 CONQUEST: Water Intrusion

If the boat is documented no registration numbers are required by federal law. Name and home port are and they are put on the stern. Documented numbers are placed in a out of the way location and if removed they should leave a shadow, imprint .

Re: Help interpreting HIN

I took the hull ID number from one of the surveys done on the boat. Looked at another survey, ( two came with the boat ) , and the zero is a "C" in that survey. So that's where my confusion was coming from. Thanks for the reply.

Re: Help interpreting HIN

[My boat's HIN] is BWC 9B012 0787. I read [in the FAQ] the month built [in the HIN format in use after 1984] is designated by a letter. [The HIN on my boat] does not meet that criteria. What I would interpret is that it is a 1987 built in July and hull number 12. Not sure where the model fits into t...

Re: 1992 27 OFFSHORE Twin E-TEC 250-HP Engines

I wonder how my 1987 27 FC [or Full Cabin] with inboard engines will handle three-foot to four-foot waves? I operate on Lake Ontario. The waves are usually closely spaced, in three-to-four-second period. I picked up my 1987 27 Full Cabin in the fall and never conducted a sea trial. I would assume it...

Just Google it as I did. Many of the aricles go into great detail. All I would be doing is copying and pasting .as I am not expert in this field.

Re: Open or Closed Cell Foam in c.1979 Boat

Having Googled open cell foam vs closed cell foam, I see there is a difference ,mostly in density and R value. So there is a difference in the two.

The speakers, over time they have a tendency to dry out and fall apart.

Re: Speaker Grill Removal

If I were trying to see if [the cause of the loudspeakers not working is from] the [audio amplifier] or the loudspeakers, I would switch the wires where the wires are spliced. The splice is usually right behind the [amplifier]. Odds are they are shot. I paid about $80 for all four of my JBL 6-inch r...

Re: Speaker Grill Removal

Most speaker grills are snapped on. If you think the speakers is cooked, I wouldn't worry about breaking the grill while trying to pry it off. You are going to replace the the speaker anyway and the new one will come with a new grill. Most replacement speakers will fit in the existing hole with no b...

Re: 1998 27 Full Cabin Inboard Fuel Consumption

Sorry but I am getting 28 gph at 24-25 mph which I stated in a previous post on my 28 x11 sportfisherman that weighs a few hundred pounds more than the whaler and has twin 350's putting out 290 hp per. Nibral props , usually with 4-5 adults ,160 gallons of fuel a tuna tower and hundreds of pounds of...

Re: 1998 27 Full Cabin Inboard Fuel Consumption

Since I don't know what [boat speed] the OP is cruising at or his actual load, all I can do is base my information on the fuel flow meter in my boat and the hundreds of articles I have read on fuel consumption of boats with approximately the same length, beam, weight, deadrise, and horsepower config...

Re: 1998 27 Full Cabin Inboard Fuel Consumption

At cruise [a 1998 Boston Whaler 27 FULL CABIN will have a fuel economy of] about 1.1 to 1.3-MPG. Variables are sea conditions, correct propeller, on-board loads such as one person versus five persons, fishing gear, full or half tank of fuel, amount of fresh water in tank, a tower, a hard top, the hu...

[The Boston Whaler 27 Full Cabin boat] is being transported this weekend to my driveway. I have another boat in the water for the rest of season. Trailer for 27 Full Cabin

After taking my first ride about 54 years ago on a 13-footer, I just picked up my first Boston Whaler boat: a 1987 27 Full Cabin with inboard engine. I was told the factory installed a keel because of the tower that was going to be installed. The keel is about 8-inches in depth and stops about 6-fee...
