My 2018 GUARDIAN 210 (length 21-feet 4-inches) was built-to-order and purchased through Brunswick Commercial and Government Products Division, as will all GUARDIAN models now be This GUARDIAN 210 has a placard indicating maximum power, maximum weight, and maximum number of persons. capacityPlate.jpg...

Re: 1983 Montauk 17 Bottom Paint

Jim--I may have used the term "hoarding" inappropriately. I had the work done at a boatyard, and the invoice indicated they "hoarded" and "sanded" the hull prior to applying the barrier coat. I believe hoarding indicates the hull was sealed up and perhaps a ventilation ...

jmpen--In 2018 I purchased a new 21 Guardian' I keep the boat in the water year-round on Quadra Island near Campbell River. I launched the new boat in mid March 2019 and, due to scheduling mix-ups and delays, the bottom coat could not be applied until early July 2019. Although the new hull was waxed...

Alternative Material and Adhesive for Mounting Bases Where the Joint is in Compression

Re: Brunswick to Acquire NAVICO for $1-billion

Butch, I also am turned off by the lack of choice in power and electronics Boston Whaler offers to the public. When I purchased my 210 Guardian Whaler in 2018 from Brunswick Commercial and Government Products, I had a choice of purchasing unpowered or with Evinrude, Mercury, Bombardier, Honda or Yam...

Re: Preventing Marine Grown on Outboard Engine Bracket

I keep my 210 Guardian in the Pacific Northwest in saltwater year-round, and have chronic problems with algal growth and subsequently barnacles on my Lenco trim tabs. What we lack in warm water we make up in nutrients. I've been advised not to paint the stainless trim tabs, even though the Micron CS...

2010 210 Guardian - Installing Thru Hull Fitting

I have a 2018 210 Guardian. I want to install a through-hull fitting in the hull bottom for a raw water pump. I believe the hull is the same as the 210 Montauk as the specifications are identical. The through-hull fitting will be installed by a boat yard with lots of experience with pleasure and com...

Re: GUARDIAN 18 Adding T-Top

The Guardian T-Top was $7105 US direct from factory, which is about 75% retail if you could order one. Yes, very expensive, especially when paying in Cdn $. But for me well worth the price. I'm getting older and becoming a fair weather wimp who is less inclined to want to bundle up and face the elem...

Re: GUARDIAN 18 Adding T-Top

I appreciate that the utility of a T-Top will vary according to how a boat is used, but let me share my personal experience and views.... During my career as a research biologist I used many 19-22' Guardians, which are very popular with government agencies, but had never used one with a T-Top or Bim...

Re: A GAM without Whales?

We were often approached by humpback whales while conducting sea lion research in Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands). They seemed to take joy in putting on a show and toying with us. Whaler 12 is from a fleet of whalers built by or for the Canadian Coast Guard and originally used as tenders (we s...

Re: MONTAUK with Scotty Down Rigger Rail Mounted: Need Pictures, Need Ideas

To clarify, the photos (in Figures 3 and 4) were of mounts custom fabricated for M&P Mercury Sales Ltd in Burnaby, BC. which they offer as part of their down rigger installations for boats they sell and service. I don't think they would sell them separately, but most welding shops could make up ...

Re: MONTAUK with Scotty Down Rigger Rail Mounted: Need Pictures, Need Ideas

One of the local Boston Whaler dealers has custom brackets fabricated for mounting down riggers on Montauk rails. I'm having similar brackets fabricated for my 21' Guardian, except the base will be an inverted, rubber-lined U-shape so it rests on the gunwales without having to drill holes through th...

Concensus is mount deeper than my original photo. Came across a video showing factory install of same Raymarine transducer on 2019 21' Montauk (redesigned, but probably still very similar to 2018 21' Guardian). It [is] on flat portion of lower strake. Some say avoid strake, some prefer the flat port...

210 Guardian - Transom Transducer Mount

I have received excellent information from this forum on downrigger installation, so thought I would ask about transducer installation for a Raymarine Axiom. My original plan was to have thru hull installed during factory build, but that wasn't feasible due to deadrise, so putting a RV-100 on the tr...

Re: 210 Guardian: Wiring path for Downriggers

Tesoro, my own experience with downriggers is too limited to assess placement, but in researching the matter there definitely appears to be two schools of thought. Traditionally, they have been mounted near the stern, and that was my first inclination. However, with the advent of longer telescopic b...

Re: 210 Guardian: Wiring path for Downriggers

Thanks for the continued interest... The downriggers will be removed when not in use (which is most of the time), but was hoping the mounting brackets and adjacent power receptacles would be permanent. Mounting on the T-Top frame might work for trolling as my downriggers have 5' telescopic booms, bu...

Re: 210 Guardian: Wiring path for Downriggers

Phil, these are excellent suggestions, much appreciated. I don't mind having a cable running from the down rigger down along the stanchion. I could then use wire cover to run down the gunwale wall to the floor, which is pretty much across from the console. The Dry-Dek sounds like a good way to get a...

Re: 210 Guardian: Wiring path for Downriggers

Jimh, I agree. I'm in a remote area, and the closest Boston Whaler dealer who works on Montauks suggested installing the down rigger plugs on the stern seats (near the fire extinguisher). The rails on the Montauk extend further back and downriggers are usually mounted closer to the transom. His reco...
