VesselView has a cool new feature that gives a performance report. Access the menu with the three horizontal lines in the upper left corner. Look for Performance Report under Performance. I have attached an example.

I suspect the NMEA gateway might be better if you have a chart plotter that supports NMEA 2000. Butch's dealer probably gave him sound advice based on his boat and what he did with it.
