Re: Engine for classic 13-footer

I have a 13' that my dad bought new in the late 60s. Originally we had a 35 Johnson on it, unsure of year, and as a teenager , we use to ski behind it without any problem. I've got a 2005 25 Johnson on it now and it still goes plenty fast for flats fishing but probably would be a slug to pull an adu...

Re: Montauk 17 Yamaha F70 Propeller

I can confirm the engine is mounted 3 holes up. So there appears to be debate over the 13 x 17 Yamaha Painted SS and 13-1/4” x 17” Turbo 1 regarding 17 pitch. Anyone else care to "pitch" in. I'd like to be a one and done the second time around. I was able to milk a couple more mph and 200 ...

Phil, one more question, are those in the order of preference? Top being first choice?

Re: Montauk 17 Yamaha F70 Prop?

Engine mounting height is all the way up.

The Solas was per an older thread that someone had used with good results with an older F70 due to the thread age I suppose.

You gave exactly the feedback I was looking for. Thank you.

Montauk 17 Yamaha F70 Propeller

I have a 1987 Montauk 17 that I re-powered with a 2016 Yamaha F70LA (brand new when I got it recently). [Following advice given in a prior] discussion, I got a new Solas New Saturn 13.5 x 15-pitch. The top boat speed is 32.5-MPH, and engine speed is 5,500-RPM under calm conditions, 400-lbs crew, 10 ...
