Re: Montauk and Striper
There is no hull difference. The 17' I have now is the GLS. It has a 1 piece insert that fits into the hull . The same set up as the sport model except the GLS is fiberglass and the sport is wood. Whaler used the same hull for several different models in all their boats up to the 25'. In my opinion ...

Re: Montauk and Striper
I have had both . Currently have sit down side console. I find it easier to fish out of and move around in. Have always thought the console was too big relative to size of boat. I also have an 18' Outrage that is 1' wider but has the same console . That combo is better to me. I'm thinking about prot...

Re: Renovation of 1988 Outrage 18
I have a 1986 18' and was facing the same decision last year. I put a new F150 and steering on for $15k. The fuel economy is 2x what it was so I use 2 12 gal tanks beneath the RPS rather than replacing the integral tank. I did not trust the original tank with a new engine purchase. I also know I wil...

Re: OUTRAG 18; Yamaha 150 HPDI
A year ago, I put a [different 150-HP engine, a Yamaha] F150 on my 18-footer. It jumps onto plane in a heartbeat and the peace of mind that accompanies a new engine is well worth the cost.

Restarting Engine After Running Fuel Tank Dry
On my 18-footer I have a Yamaha F150 four-stroke-cycle engine and two 12-gallon fuel tanks. How difficult is it to restart if I [let the engine stall by running one of the fuel tanks dry]? I have heard with cars [re-starting an engine that has run out of fuel] is bad.
