Having owned a few cross flow v4's the max rpm is 5500. If pulling skiers I would recommend a 17" pitch OMC SST prop. Easy to find on e-bay. You will want a tach as it might over rev by a couple hundred RPM at WOT.

Aside: A Tender would not have steering, it would be a tiller model. The sport has a side console and steering whether it is used as a tender to a yacht or not.

Boston Whaler made a couple models designed specifically for fly fishing called a CROSS TACKLE. They did not have poling platforms. They did have a custom bow rail that I think allowed you to lean against while casting.

I do not see the need for a poling platform if you have a trolling motor.

You can do that. Back in the early 2000's it was much cheaper for me to import a Honda from Canada. Shipping was less than the sales tax I did not have to pay.

There is an Evinrude dealer by me with a new 40-HP for $3,800. A 60-HP for $5300 and a 140-HP G2 for $8200.

The ProXS comes in 20-inch shaft. I am not sure the [FOURSTROKE] 200 does. The ProXS is designed for lighter bass boats. The Revenge is pretty light.

Glad I thought of [a hook in the hull bottom running surface causing the bow to stay down as a possible cause of the bow-down running attitude on the boat].

Being your boat is homemade and wooden, you might be flexing the hull at speed which in turn acts like a hook. Hooks act like a trim tab and mash the bow down.

That is a great suggestion about the VST and most likely the cause.

No tank under the hood.

I had this problem once where someone put oil in the gas tank. It did not mix with the gas and got sucked up the fuel line and filled carbs with oil. Any chance that might have happened?

If you are getting 6300 with both one person and with five people, you need a larger propeller.

You should remove the jack plate.

Personally owning a Suzuki DF40 on my 1981 SPORT 13, I recommend the Suzuki 30-HP with power trim and tilt. The difference between 32 and 35-MPH is not worth the expense or the weight [of a different engine choice that is more expensive and heavier].

I agree with Frank and Phil. He had mechanical problems that he could not fix but did not try and hail the USCG? Decides to sleep to find out he needs to escape through a hatch. That is like Titanic flooding at that point. Then decides to hitch a ride to Delaware?
