Re: Rewiring Montauk
My 1985 MONTAUK 17 was re-wired for two batteries. A Blue Sea Systems battery switch that could separate the engine and house loads was used. [The boat was wired to] keep house loads separated from the engine starting battery. I moved both batteries into the console. The batteries cannot sit on the ...

Revenge V-22 Cuddy Interior Molding
I'm doing a minor remodel of my 1980 cuddy cabin interior. I've pulled all of the deteriorated head liner off, as well as the bulkhead that separates the anchor rode locker from the cabin. I plan on installing a reel-style on-deck windlass, so want to incorporate the old anchor rode space into the i...

1980 REVENGE V-22 Fuel Tank Replacement
[I] just replaced [the fuel] tank on a 1980 REVENGE V-22. Neoprene strips were glued with 3M5200 to the bottom every 18-inches port-to-starboard, with the very 12-inch bottom of the tank open. Strips were glued across the top underneath the aluminum brackets, then blocks of plastic 2 x 6 decking cut...

Re: Outrage 77-gallon Fuel Tank Dimensions
I just replaced my 39 year-old Florida Marine Tank aluminum fuel tank that lived in a V-22 with a Patriot Marine tank custom built from my dimensions. I am sure they can accommodate your asymmetrical space without a problem. Be sure and leave room around the tank for air circulation and installation...

REVENGE V-22: One-inch Brass Through Hull Covers
I recently replaced four 1-inch brass through-hull fittings on my Revenge V-22. I want to replace the corroded covers. I cannot seem to find a source.
[Implied question: What is a source for the Perko Clamshell Vents used to cover drain outlets on the hull?]
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Checklist for Buying Classic 17-footer-Moisture Meter
I sure wish I had a moisture meter when I was evaluating my newly purchased 1980 Revenge V-22. When I pulled my first through-hull to replace it, water came dribbling out from the hull. As I got further into the project, I purchased a moisture meter, and found that it accurately measured the portion...

Re: Problem with Water in Fuel Tank Cavity
There is a lot said about this topic in earlier posts and they reflect a real mix of approaches, from installing a separate sump pump for the fuel tank compartment after removing the foam, to putting in a drain tube connecting the fuel compartment to the aft compartment via drain tube. I am consider...

Re: New Project: 1980 Revenge V-22
Thanks for the reinforcement of how much this is ultimately going to cost me. To keep this older boat alive will be worth the costs. I plan on starting with the trailer, which I have determined is more cost-effective to replace than to repair. Next comes the fuel tank. It is soaked with water and no...
