Re: 2004 190 NANTUCKET: Engine with only 150-hours

Interesting situation developed here in NJ yesterday. Due to the pandemic and high number of positive tests in the state, our Governor has shut down, among many things, all non-essential business; boat dealers are included in his list. I was due to water test the Nantucket this coming week, but that...

Try WJ Mills, they made them for the 1999-2007 line.

FS: 2007 Montauk winter cover

Custom canvas cover from Fisher Canvas in NJ. Was fitted to a 2007 Montauk with bow and side rails. Will probably fit 2003 [and newer]. Covers hull to waterline and outboard. Used two seasons, in excellent condition. Cover was checked and refolded by Fisher after final season of use. Cover is locate...

Re: Powering Above OEM Rating

Easy enough to verify; contact the NJ State Police Marine division or contact a manufacturer certified outboard dealer. Jim has the best recommendation.

Re: Powering Above OEM Rating

In NJ it is From the NJ State Police Boating Safety Manual, page 35, which is the text book used to obtain the state boating safety certificate, commonly referred to as 'license'. The violation would fall under state statute 12:7-47. No vessel shall be operated in a reckless or careless manner. Reck...

Re: First time buyer: 190 Montauk Ride

I just don't see 190's out there. My kids are still at the age that they'll be hanging with us on this boat and at times dragging along other teenagers for watersports. The 115 as a solo motor option was one year only (2007) which I interpret as meaning more power needed, especially for a full boat...

Re: First time buyer: 190 Montauk Ride

[Seeks] first hand experience with a c.2007 190 MONTAUK and 115-HP engine. I plan to have two adults and three teenagers on the boat 50-percent of the time. I am not looking for a speed demon, but I don't want a dog either. I've read some of the prior comments, and those reviews are mixed. Thanks. ...

Re: First time buyer: 190 Montauk Ride

Thanks again for the responses, I'm grateful for the insight. 46er, given my location, I'm able to buy from a Marinemax dealer, or McCarthy's, I like small family owned dealerships. I bought my 2007 Montauk from McCarthy's, good folks. You might also consider taking a ride to Manahawkin and talk to...

Re: First time buyer: 190 Montauk Ride

I have been boating Barnegat Bay, its rivers, inlets and offshore for over 40 years. No one boat hull design will be perfect in its myriad conditions. If you are a blue sky, calm wind boater just about any hull except a flat bottom should put a smile on your face. I have owned 17' Montauk's, the mos...

[Boston Whaler stopped production of the CONQUEST 21 in c.2001] probably because they were not selling well.

Re: 170 Montauk Boat Cover Dimensions

I got a cover for my 2007 Montauk from Fisher Canvas here in New Jersey. All they do is make covers. They have patterns for almost everything, make specific alterations if needed, and will ship. Total protection and easy on-off, highly recommended.

I saw the episode for the installation on a Nantucket. That show used to be on a cable channel here, but disappeared some time ago.

Re: FISHMASTER Folding T-Top: First-hand Experience Wanted

PHIL—thanks. [The FISHMASTERS T-Top] would be installed on a 2004 190 Nantucket Fishmasters site has some pictures on Nantuckets. The wood locating diagram for the190 Nantucket is the same as a 2009 Outrage 19. The diagram has not changed since 2003 except for the page border, a name change. I am in...

Looks just about perfect to me, but to each their own. Any first hand experience? BW wants $6800 for one and it does not fold.

Re: 2004 190 NANTUCKET: Engine with only 150-hours

I bought a freshwater 2004 Nantucket 190 with a Mercury OptiMax... Thanks for some good info. I put around 1,500-hours running time on my Mercury OptiMax 225-HP engine with an Outrage 23. The OptiMax 225 never missed a beat. [I experienced the] normal maintenance. [The OptiMax 225 engine] was suppo...

Re: 2004 190 NANTUCKET: Engine with only 150-hours

Thanks for the responses. The boat is in very good condition, some cosmetic repair needed, but no cracks, scrapes or chips. Even the rub rails are unmarked. The dealer is the selling dealer and has all service records, has a good reputation in this area, has been a Boston Whaler dealer since 1959. T...

2004 190 NANTUCKET: Engine with only 150-hours

I may buy a 2004 190 NANTUCKET powered with a 2004 Mercury 135 OptiMax with 150 hours. I am aware of problems with live wells and through-hulls. The low hour running time is my concern. On my OUTRAGE 23 I had a 225-HP OptiMax, and had no faults. I believe the 135-HP engine is a detuned 150-HP engine...
