Here's an example of a Sea Ray with hidden outboard motors: https://www.boatingmag.com/boats/sea-ray-370-venture-0/ (again, scroll down).

Re: BRP Shows New Outboard Engine Integration Concept to Investors

I recall that Pursuit and some other boat manufacturers (I believe Sea Ray may have been one) tried this concept about 10 years ago. See, e.g., https://www.boatingmag.com/boats/pursuit-sc-365i/ (scroll down for pictures of the hidden outboard motors). It doesn't seem to have caught on all that well.

It Is Now Legal to Use Handheld VHF Radios While Ashore

While reading BoatU.S. Magazine this month, I learned that the FCC has issued new rules making it legal to use portable handheld VHF radios while ashore. Such radios may now be used in areas adjacent to the water, for purposes relating to the operational and business needs of an associated vessel. C...

Re: Door County, Wisconsin Rendezvous - August 2016

Two boats are scheduled to leave from Frankfort, Michigan on Friday, August 26, at about 1:00 p.m. EDT, hoping to arrive at the southwest corner of Rock Island at about 3:00 or 3:30 p.m. CDT, where we hope to join a couple of other boats. We plan to spend some time in the area of Rock Island and Was...

The 22 and 23-footers that make the crossing generally cruise in the high 20s. Much slower and some of them have difficulty staying on plane. If you want to make the crossing in a 15-footer, you better hope for two really calm days.

Re: Door County, Wisconsin Rendezvous - August 2016

Duane, Conditions on Lake Michigan vary greatly throughout the summer. The best chances for calm conditions are in June and July, but any given day or weekend can have flat calm conditions. There's not really any way to pick a date ahead of time and expect good conditions for a crossing. You just pi...

Door County, Wisconsin Rendezvous - August 2016

A rendezvous is in the works for Door County, Wisconsin, in August 2016. Neither a firm date nor a firm location has yet been established. Do you keep a detailed log of your boating? This is dumb. How do you see a synthetic ATON? If you don't have an AIS receiver you're screwed. Lake Nicolet is particularly bad since it can go from 30-feet to 30-inches in a couple of boat lengths. David - the synthetic ATONs are better than nothing. I was driving the Pursuit 235 Offshore. My top speed on that run, as measured by GPS, was 47 mph at 6,000 RPM. I was running a 15" MiragePlus propeller.

There was also another boat near the front of the pack, Don McIntyre's smooth side 21' Outrage.
