Re: 17 Outrage II Re-power Suzuki DF140: Six Questions

The Suzuki engine price [as given above as a verbal quote of $11,500 for a DF140A in black, installed with gauges and controls, but with a five to six month wait and a $1,000 deposit] seems good. I re-powered my 17 Outrage II with a Yamaha VMAX SHO 115. My costs for the repower with the Yamaha VMX S...

Re: 1998 17 OUTRAGE II: Wire Path for Bow Trolling

Continuous Wave Family, Here is my update on my 36-Volt Minn-Kota TERRANOVA saltwater trolling motor installation on my 1998 17 Outrage II. TM-mount_.jpg Note I had to remove the OEM bow railing, and I am now in the process of fabricating a new bow railing. TM_WirePath.jpg TM-wiring-2_.jpg Everythin...

1998 17 OUTRAGE II: Wire Path for Bow Trolling

Give me recommendations on routing the [bow] trolling motor wiring to the console on a 1998 17 OUTRAGE II.

I don’t have much to work with and want to try to get the [power outlet connector] as close as possible to the trolling motor.

Re: 17 OUTRAGE II Yamaha I-4 V MAX SHO® 115

[The new engine model designation] is the VF115 SHO [but Yamaha refers to it as a VF115LA--Moderator]. I just finished the break-in period. [In the future] I will be performing [the factory specified] 20-hour-service; currently [the new engine has] 13 hours [running time]. The previous 130-HP two-st...

17 OUTRAGE II Yamaha I-4 V MAX SHO® 115

I have a 1998 17 Outrage II with a new Yamaha [that was later clarified to be an I-4 V MAX SHO 115]; it replaced a 1998 Yamaha 130-HP two-stroke-power-cycle engine. I chose the [Yamaha I-4 V MAX SHO 115] due to [concern about too much] transom weight. I wanted to stay within specification. Boston Wh...

Re: REVENGE 22 W-T Using Two 22-gallon On-Deck Tanks

If [the REVENGE 22 W-T] has an aluminum tank I would replace it yourself.

I am in the process of replacing a fuel tank on a different boat. See

Re: 1998 OUTRAGE 17 Fuel Leak

The process of removing the fuel tank from the hull was not too bad. I used flat-blade screwdriver pushed through the foam all around the tank. This took time but was not hard. The OEM fuel tank depth is onLY 6-inches on the outside edges. The fuel tank has a v-bottom shape that matches the fuel tan...

Re: 1998 OUTRAGE 17 Fuel Leak

17OUTRAGE_FuelTank.jpg I pulled out the fuel tank and ordered another one from Vince at American Tanks in San Diego. The cost is $840 for the new tank and peace of mind. Also I am installing a new fuel line and filler hose. Thanks for all the advice and info. I do have one last question: Should I u...

Re: 1998 OUTRAGE 17 Fuel Leak

Thanks to everyone for the help. I am looking for a local mechanic for a pressure test on the fuel tank, and for replacement of fuel hoses. I will post results.

1998 OUTRAGE 17 Fuel Leak

I bought [a 1998 OUTRAGE 17] boat from an owner who had the boat sitting for eight years. I notice fuel at the bottom [of the bilge ] when I opened the bilge . I unscrewed a drain plug on the forward wall of the bilge and more came out. Is a new fuel tank needed? To determine if a new fuel tank is n...
