Re: Boston Whaler Introduces the 2018 170 MONTAUK

The stern is eerily similar to my 1997 Dauntless 17'. I wonder how much trade it will cost to get this new Montauk.

Re: Finally found my Whaler

Great find. I wish I did the same, just find a boat with no motor.

Re: Install flush mount rod holder

Message well received :-). So far the only hole I made is for the flush mount compass. In this case, I might just think of a way to expand the accessory table top with 2 rod holders on the transom. Or find an "arm" accessory that attaches to the motor railing and expand to both stern and p...

Re: Propeller Locks - Worth It?

I've had McGard locks on the twin Revolution 4 propellers on my 1984 Outrage 25 since I bought it - I trailer it exclusively. It is not just the cost but also the potential for a lost day if you walk out and find your propellers gone. I know these won't stop a determined theif but it should stop a ...

Install flush mount rod holder

1997 17' BW Dauntless DC. I would like to install two 15deg flush mount rod holders on the gunwale, 1 each stern port and starboard, next to the stern seats. Not on the transom, but a foot from the cleats (see attached image). What I am afraid of is I might hit the wirings of the all around white li...

Re: c.2013 230 Dauntless

Great resource as always Jim. I have a 1997 17' Dauntless that actually looks very much like a ventura. Its more than a bayboat to me. It handles Jacksonville's St Johns river crazy wakes and jetties. Near shore to 9 miles in a good day. I'll trade mine for 230 DAUNTLESS with a Verado 250 anyday to ...

First off thanks mods for modifying my thread. Temporarily I patched it with marine epoxy. And will surely try doing it myself for now. Great advice! Thanks

Repairing Boston Whaler Hull Damage

[Please give advice on how] to fix this [ this small area of damage on a 1997 Boston Whaler Dauntless seen in this linked image ]. [The damaged area has dimensions of] about 2-inches long and 1/2-inch wide. [The depth of the damage is] not deep. Just the fiberglass [is] damaged, it seems. I see some...
