Re: Massachusetts Boat Title

Thanks so much for all the input folks. Much appreciated. Heading down tomorrow to hopefully buy the boat. You need to get a copy [from the seller] of the trailer and boat registration; you will need these documents. Are copies of the registrations ok or do they need to be originals? You said copies...

If I could update the subject or previous post I would, but my wishlist has slightly changed (whittled down really) as I've done more and more research. I'm looking for a 15 footer and want a Edgewater 155 BW Dauntless 15 (ideally w/ rps seat and rear platform) BW 150 Sport BW Montauk 150 My max pri...

Massachusetts Boat Title

I found a great boat for me at a great price but it's down in Connecticut, and the seller doesn't have a title since they're a no-title state. I'll need to title it up here in Massachusetts. In looking at the Massachusetts RMV page I see the first note is: "When a boat is purchased from a priva...

Thanks Biggie. Your input is appreciated.
The Edgewater 14 boat does seem to have the edge in terms of fit, finish, ability, and (in this case) engine.

Do you have any thoughts on comparing those two boats?

Dauntless 13 vs Edgewater 140

Give me advice comparing a 1996 Dauntless 13 with a 40-HP two-stroke-power-cycle engine and a 1998 Edgewater 140 with a 50-HP four-stroke-power-cycle engine. From what I can tell, the Edgewater 140 only has capacity for four persons whereas the Dauntless 13 has capacity for five persons. I'm assumin...

Starting to thinking this isn’t meant to be. Just drove 10 hours round trip for nothing. Drove from MA to NJ to buy the Dauntless 15. Saw the motor start up flawlessly yesterday via FaceTime probably 8-10 times. No problems. Drove 5hrs today and the motor couldn’t start. Change gas tank and line, ch...

Re: Buying My First Boston Whaler

The tires may be “new” based on looks/wear, but may not be new based on age. I’d stop frequently and check the temperature of the bearings and rubber (buy a cheap infrared temperature gun) and keep the speed down to say 60mph. Do you have the right size trailer ball on your hitch to match the one o...

A DAUNTLESS is not a center console boat, so in your search for a first center-console boat, you probably would not want a DAUNTLESS. A DAUNTLESS is typically a dual console boat with the helm on starboard and a walk-though windshield to the bow. The Dauntless 17 was a dual console but all others (...

I used to tow a Montauk with a Cadillac STS. The weight was not the problem but the lack of a cooler was. To skirt overheating your transmission you tow slower without your overdrive on.
