Re: Offloading Outrage 18 From Trailer

I purchased the Brownell system to take my 1982 Outrage 18 off the trailer to strip the bottom paint, apply a barrier coat, and repaint. Fabulous system. Worth every penny. I split the cost with a friend so it wasn't prohibitively expensive. And it makes for very easy [transition] both on and off th...

Re: 1984 OUTRAGE 18 Steering Replacement

By "seemed marginal to me" I was reflecting that I would be hesitant to use a steering system whose max HP rating exactly matched the max HP rating boat. I would prefer to have some margin of safety. Because I was concerned about this I called Seastar and spoke with their customer service ...

Re: 1984 OUTRAGE 18 Steering Replacement

Last year I purchased a 1982 Outrage 18 and, after one summer, decided to replace the old two-cable steering system. At first I looked into a single-cable No-feedback (NFB) system, but the manufacturer did not recommend it for my boat given its size and its horsepower rating. I will be putting in a ...

I'm installing the Seastar front mounted cylinder model Hc5345 (i think that's the same as "center mount").

I'm installing Seastar hydraulic steering in my 1982 Outrage 18. Does anyone know the proper length for the hydraulic hoses?

Rod Holders for Reverisble Pilot Seat

I recently purchased a used reversible pilot seat (RPS) for my 1982 Outrage 18. The rod holders fit into the teak back of the RPS and have plastic coating on the top of the stainless steel top that is very deteriorated. I would like to repair or replace them. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to ...

Re: Super Console Woodwork

I'm new to whalers (just bought a 1982 Outrage 18) but I've been maintaining the teak on my sail boat for 40 years. My favorite is Cetol. nice color and easiest to maintain. I striped the grey doors off the whaler sanded them then followed with several coats of Cetol. Very satisfied.

Re: NYC to Quebec via Hudson River

I have been sailing on Lake Champlain for over 40 years, currently on my 37 ft. Pearson. Just bought a 1982 Outrage 18 to experience the lake under power. I keep the sailboat at the Lake Champlain Yacht club on Shelburne Bay not sure where the whaler will be. When you are in the area get in touch. I...
