Re: 1987 15 Sport CC F70: Amazing Results
I can't believe you got those results out of an almost two year old engine, maybe one built in the month of January but not one built back in 2014.

Re: Older Two-cycle Engine Throttle Behavior
Could [the cause of the engine speed varying] be [due to] a propeller bushing?

Re: YAMAHA F70 manufacture date
I hope to find buyers as understanding as Huckleberry. I agree with him to some degree, but as consumers we typically want to pay less for something that has been sitting vs the same thing that just finished being built. So long as it is the same motor and hasn't been damaged and best we can tell i...

Re: YAMAHA F70 manufacture date
Automobiles are sold by model year, they typically sit on the lot in the weather all year and are test driven by anyone the dealer hands the key to while accruing mileage. That's why prior year automobiles cost substantially less. Totally different.

Re: YAMAHA F70 manufacture date
Tim, that's the problem here. One of them is not a 2014 because like said before they don't use model year indicators anymore. And like you said in an earlier post, there haven't been any updates since well before the the motor was built in 2014. In addition to all of that, the dealer has given him ...

Re: YAMAHA F70 manufacture date
I can't understand why an engine built in April of 2014 would be worth less than an engine built in November of 2015, so long as they are the same motor. I could understand if the engine had been used as a demo unit or has been exposed to the elements for a year it being devalued, but it's the same ...

Re: Keel Guard
I have one that I am waiting for a warm day to install. We have two boat ramps in the Charleston area with no dock to aide in getting in the boat. The only way to access the ramp is to pull up on the concrete ramp grinding away gelcoat in the process. After reading some old forums about the keelguar...

Re: Keep An Accurate Log of Your Whaler
My Captain's Log from Tidelog came in today and I really like it. On the first few pages, it has entries for detailed information about the vessel, model numbers, and serial numbers of the hull, engines, batteries, fuel tanks, etc. The next fifty pages or so are printed for entries of cruise log and...

Re: Steering Wheel Teak Center Caps
You gotta look at the edge and the side profile. When you take it out, you will notice all of the thin veneers that are glued up to make it.
I must add that is a nice Montauk you have.

I disagree. If you inspect the edge of one, you will notice the plies of wood. It is the tapered crown that gives it the circle effect.

Re: Keep An Accurate Log of Your Whaler
My dad kept meticulous records of our fishing/boating trips, something I wish I did. I can tell you having logbooks that I can reference for comparing today's trips to those of years ago sure helps in patterning fish habits and for me, a boost in confidence in the what, where, how deep, bait, etc. A...

I wonder how many people know that the NBA basketball team the L.A. Lakers got their name as a memorial to the ships, "lakers" that have sailed the great lakes. The team originated in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Re: Steering Wheel Teak Center Caps
Jeff, I thought that at one time too until I really looked at how the grain ran, especially looking at the back and I could tell they are not cut from end grain. But, I think I figured it out. They layered several plies of teak, looks like ten of them at about 1/8" thick glued up in some sort o...

Steering Wheel Teak Center Caps
How does Boston Whaler get their steering wheel teak center caps to [have] the circular pattern only found on the Boston Whaler-supplied caps? After studying the details of them, I can't seem to figure out how they do it--definitely a head scratcher.
