You might consider being slightly forward or aft of where it was first mounted. Probably aft, for more rather than less room between the seat and console. The original area might contain a bit of dry rot.

Excellent work and finish work. Only small suggestion I'd have is (probably too late) to consider making the door for the engine clearance spring loaded. No accidental tilting up to far and cracking the great looking door!

The tricky part of the repair is going to be beveling of the fiberglass laminate on both sides; the cutout portion and the rest of the hull, at least one inch.

In addition to what Jim posted. For filler, be sure to use a low density filler. Using a high density filler will make the sanding and leveling more time consuming.

I recall a conversation where there was mention of just that, a problem a problem with transom slope. The factory had various flare tools that were custom made according to the angle needed.

And to minimize the need for another one, coat it with a couple of coats of epoxy (without any additives, just straight), especially along the edges and the lift hole. Then a few coats of varnish. It will last much longer.

One process to consider when filling in the old holes (especially if your not going to remake or reuse the two old factory teak switchplates on the console face) is to cut out all of the dash face, to within one inch of the corners. Replace the whole face with 3/4" plywood. Reglass and repaint....

If going with wood, teak will be fine. when drilling and coating, also coat the inside of the drilled hole to prevent water intrusion. Cash, with the transfer taking place at a bank. Some have made the transfers occur at a local police department lobby.

If you go a financial instrument, your bank could assist in confirmation that the check, or certified check is good, but that's not 100% foolproof.

The underlying reason the tank deformed was at one point during your boat's life it was exposed to freezing temps.
