Re: 210 Montauk
Q8: have you considered buying a 190 MONTAUK instead of the 210 MONTAUK? I have thought about the 190 MONTAUK. I figured a 190 MONTAUK wasn’t a large enough move up [from the current 170 MONTAUK boat] to be worth [the cost involved]. Q9: are you set on buying a 210 MONTAUK? I like the extra size an...

Re: 210 Montauk
The best arrangement is to live at the water's edge, have the boat at your dock, and be able to hop aboard and go boating. I live near Dayton, Ohio, and living on the water's edge is not an option. The closest lakes with homes on the water are in central Ohio and were originally built as detention ...

Re: 210 Montauk
Thanks for the link to the chart. The 210 won’t fit thru my seven-foot-high garage door. Q7. [what difference will occur if a 210 MONTAUK is powered by the optional] 200-HP compared to the standard 150-HP engine? My 170 MONTAUK has the Mercury 115-HP engine, I like the power and speed [provided by t...

210 Montauk
I currently have a 2019 170 Montauk. In Fall 2022 I want to get a 210 MONTAUK, either a recently-made used boat or new boat. The 210 MONTAUK will be used in the backwaters of Orange Beach and Gulf Shores, Alabama. On good days it will be used in the Gulf of Mexico. I will also use the 210 MONTAUK on...

Who cares what an appraiser says the boat is worth, buy the boat.

Re: 170 Montauk Stern Seats
I am thinking to make a 3/4-inch-thick wood seat. Then attach or hook or snap-on a throw cushion.
I will make the backrest from teak and have cushions made. I believe I can do this for much less [cost than the Boston Whaler seat].

Sometimes I have several adults on board, and other times it is just my wife and I.

Re: 170 Montauk Stern Seats
PHIL--thank you.
I may buy the two stern quarter seats.
I think the bench seat would be nice if you always had passengers. The bench seat would take up a lot of room. The bench seat would not be handy for swimmers getting in and out from the swim platform.

170 Montauk Stern Seats
For my 2019 170 MONTAUK I want to buy a full-width stern seat or two quarter seats that have a backrest that mount in the rod holders at the transom. Q1:Who sells these seats? Q2:What is the cost? Q3: Could I make my own? [Moderator's note: deleted three posts that were trying to solicit information...

Re: Mercury 115 FOURSTROKE Trailer Bracket
I ended up using a piece of 2 x 8 lumber. It worked for a short trip to my brother's barn for the winter.

Effect on Towed MPG of Weight Saved by Aluminum Trailer
I have the standard steel trailer for my 170 MONTAUK. If one did a lot of towing of a 170 MONTAUK boat on a trailer, a lighter aluminum trailer would save a lot in fuel costs.

2019 170 Montauk Range
I plan longer boat trips with a 2019 170 MONTAUK with 115-HP engine with 20-gallon fuel tank capacity. I realize that the wind, currents, weight in the boat, etc., will be factors.
What range can I expect?

Jimh -
Thanks for your ideas suggestions.
I live just south of Dayton. 1,200 miles is a long trip, maybe make it a couple of weeks the next time.

Re: Navigating Gulf Shores, Alabama
Thanks jefecinco and Masbama, I am down [in Gulf Shores, Alabama] right now, but didn’t bring my boat. The docks at our condo are out of commission. We are right near Ono Island and the bridge. I had the boat out in the inshore waters three times in the summer of 2020. I am getting the hang of it. I...

Re: Mercury 115 FOURSTROKE Trailer Bracket
Thanks Jim.
I believe the dealer told me to trailer it in the full up position.
Basically, one needs to raise it enough to just make sure it doesn’t rub the asphalt and the wedge or piece of wood, would keep all the pressure off the hydraulic cylinder.

Mercury 115 FOURSTROKE Trailer Bracket
I have 2019 170 MONTAUK with a Mercury 115-HP FOURSTROKE engine. The engine operating manual says to travel in the vertical position. The dealer told me to travel with the engine up [later clarified to be in the full-up position], with the bracket engaged. The engine is too close to the ground [when...

Navigating Gulf Shores, Alabama
In May 2020 I purchased a 2019 170 MONTAUK that was the dealer's leftover. I live in Ohio, but frequently go to the Alabama Gulf coast. I grew up boating on Lake Cumberland in Kentucky. The waters around Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Ono Island are new to me. I am learning more every day. Point me ...

Re: Black Top Legend: 170 MONTAUK at Haulover Inlet
I wonder if [BLACK TOP LEGEND] would take a passenger or two. I would like to ride along with him, however my back might not agree. He is definitely one with his boat as he skims along.
