Re: Four-pole Electrical Connector for Lamps

I received the Aqua Signal connector today. The basic idea looks great, but the material isn't very strong. It would be a very nice part if built out of metal. Also, pulling the plug out of the socket takes a lot of force. Given how light the material is, I'm wondering if the mounting tabs will brea...

Re: four-pin deck connector for light wiring

Due to the way the mast fits into the bracket, it would be difficult (but maybe possible) to do this as you suggest. I'd also have to figure out a way to get the wire pigtail to go up the center of the mast as it was being slid into the bracket. You're right that it would be a nice clean installatio...

Re: four-pin deck connector for light wiring

Jim, Thanks for the tips. I think the more waterproof plug would be worthwhile because the front of my console takes a bit of splash in waves, perhaps more so on the Divemaster because the console is mounted farther forward. I'm also considering trolling motor plug/receptacles. Examples are Marinco ...

Four-pole Electrical Connector for Lamps

Hello. I have a removable mast on the console of my Guardian Divemaster 17. I have LED deck lamps (wired together) and a navigation lamp on the mast, so four electrical conductors. The mast wiring plugs into the front of console via two Perko watertight deck connections (Mfg # 1189DP0CHR). They aren...

Re: Overpowering and Insurance

It's a little off topic, but I recently learned another useful tip on boat insurance. If you have a boat that you think is more valuable than what you expect your insurer would determine in case of a loss, there is potentially an option of an "agreed value" policy. It presumably eliminates...

Re: Divemaster 17 Boat Cover: Need a Design and Ideas

Thanks for the input. I think I'll need a custom cover because the Divemaster has an atypical console position and some extra railings near the stern (see post entitled DIVEMASTER 17 in the GAM section for photos). I also have a mounted ladder that will be complicate the design. Therefore, I don't t...

Divemaster 17 Boat Cover: Need a Design and Ideas

I'm about to have a cover made for my Divemaster 17 (a version of Guardian), which I store on the trailer under a carport. I was thinking of a tight-fitting Sunbrella fabric cover that goes over the pulpit, console and railings, and on the bottom cinches at the rub rail all the way around. I'm hopin...

Re: DIVEMASTER 17

Your next project should be to set that mast up to display proper night lighting for diving. That would be pretty cool--and unusual in the civilian world. http://www.dive-flag.com/flag-images/dive-flag-display.gif Any idea where to get a light like this? It does seem to be required by Rule 27a for ...

Re: DIVEMASTER 17

I have to ask: what is on the tall mast just forward of the center console? I think the mast is part of the "dive" package that also included the aft railings and forward console (see Jeff's comments about this). The mast has a white nav light on top, and two flood lights facing forward (...

Re: Show Us Your Whaler

Jeff--thanks for the input. I'd be curious to learn more about the Divemaster model. My hull has the red dot that I associated with a Guardian, and its gray color like most Guardians. But I admit that I'm new to Whalers and just starting to learn what to look for. Is it possible that the Divemaster ...

Re: Show Us Your Whaler

I'll post something with more details in a few weeks. I don't have accurate speed data, so I can't help much there. I'm usually running with a lot of heavy gear and running in wind and chop; or alternatively in smooth conditions where I hit the RPM limit well below full throttle using 13.25 x 15 Sti...

DIVEMASTER 17

This is a 1986 [DIVEMASTER] 17. I'm new to Whalers but had admired them since I was a kid. I bought this one last year, at which point it needed a lot of work. The E-TEC 90 was in good shape, but all the wiring, electronics, Evinrude wiring harness needed to be replaced. I refinished all the stainle...
