Re: Outrage water in hull

[Two months later] This type of thing happens. Sand off all of the bottom paint in those areas and look for hidden damage. A previous owner could have just painted over a repair. Your cracks are long and need to be ground out and chamfered all the way around the edges to expose a lot of surface area...

Re: 2002 290 Outrage leaky cabin

The water is coming in from the transom area. If the fish boxes are not sealed or the plumbing for the bait tank or wash down pump leak salt water into the catch basin in the transom, the water can run forward in the keel channel all the way up under the holding tank and into the cabin. Also the for...

Re: Evinrude ICON Touch 7.0 CTS Display

For about two of years I have had an Evinrude ICON Touch 7.0 CTS display. I wish BRP would have paid more attention to the screen dimming: ⋅ the throttle-shift lever must be in neutral to change the brightness setting ⋅ the lowest setting is not low enough. The white background i...

1999 OUTRAGE 28 Windshield

I finally was able to run my 1999 Boston Whaler Outrage 28 for a full season last year. [The boat has] a hard top, and there is canvas that attaches to the frame of the windshield. I was thinking how nice the one-piece windshield must be on the new Whalers. How [can a 1999 OUTRAGE 28 windshield be m...

Re: New Whaler design-and it looks like Grady White

I have a 1999 [OUTRAGE] 28. It has a stepped Euro transom. My 2002 [OUTRAGE] 230 had a Euro transom. I like them because I like the swim step. the battery storage, the boarding ladder, the transom door, and the fresh water washdown. [The Euro transom] makes a great place to bleed the fish or keep a ...

Re: 2004 24 Outrage

They run [fast]. Just let them warm up before going WOT. I just removed a set of 225 OptiMax engines from my Whaler and replaced them with G2's. They are 25-inch-shafts with 1000 hours on them and they run perfect. Now I need to find them a new home instead of letting them sit around and rot.

Re: Uneven Fuel Usage

I think somebody messed with [the fuel distribution manifold valves]. I checked them today and they were [set for both engines] drawing from the port tank. I guess the shop that just installed my new Evinrude E-TEC 300 G2 engines messed with the [valves] before a sea trial. When I filled up [the two...

Uneven Fuel Usage

Greetings fellow Whalers. Today at fuel fill-up, the port fuel tank of my 1999 Boston Whaler 28-foot boat took 82-gallons; the starboard tank only took 25-gallons. How could this be? Both engines were running at the same time. Both engines covered the same ground at the same throttle settings. The s...

Re: 230 Outrage Appraisal

i owned a 2002 [perhaps meant OUTRAGE] 230 that sat full of water. The purchase price was $25,000. [Later after all the renovations that are described in great detail below} I sold it, and it was like pulling teeth to get $41,000. [The boat that was bought, renovated and sold] had a single 225 Opti ...

Re: Offshore 27 Re-power with Twin Yamaha F300 4.2L

Those are some big engines. Did you buy them new or used? I do not see the shipping crates. I bought one F300 with all the controls and harnesses, and it cost me as much as a new car.
