I ended up glassing over [the unused open splash well on the 25-foot hull with Whaler Drive] so the [former open] space [of the splash well] now has a flat [surface]. I’ll post some photos in the future.

With the COVAD-19 isolation, I have been in lockdown at Fort Niagara. Sadly the local Rescue 21 channel is 90-percent encrypted. Only the new 29-foot boat has its encrypt switch OFF. I am looking to replace the Outrage 25 Rub Rail and wanted to see if anyone has used the Taco products.

Best I can tell it's a white Taco V21-9678 (mounted upside down) and a black V12-4144 insert.

Can anyone confirm that? Was Taco the OEM on mid design Outrage models?

Agreed this is not the forum for geeky radio topics...

My only comment is that it is helpful to monitor what historically was on Ch21. Much of the Rescue21 traffic is in the clear and sounds exactly like with was on CH21 before. All my whalers have an Astro Spectra on them ($100-$150).

Good points Jim, I too agree that the real problem here is the sealing of the StarBoard cap. If water never got under the cover it would be dry right now. I think the flaw here is that the factory did not seal the cover well. The floor scuppers do drain into this zone the factory should have treated...

The USMC RRC boats always had twin OMC 70hp motors. The Netherlands military version have a single OMC v6 (unk HP). Other than the single motor the only visible difference on the Dutch ones were running lights on the console and an all around light above the tow bar.

Hmm, They are available in 20ft and 28ft lengths. 20ft seems a bit short with the whaler drive. My thinking: 4ft from the motor to the enclosed well area. 4th to the tunnel 9ft in the tunnel 4ft to the Montauk style console. It just seems odd to buy a 28ft cable for a 26ft center console boat...

Love FME. I have a tackle box fill of all the variations. It started as a mistake, I ordered the wrong Larsen NMO mount 10-15yrs ago that had one on it, snaked it through my pickup and have never looked back.

Hmm. If I use the single I-Command instrument [then] would I not need the two 2-inch System-Check [annunciators]? I see the I-Command has a buzzer output. That would get me down to just two gauges.

I don't think I have a custom MWS option. I was going to measure (with a line) the distance from the Outrage console to the Whaler Drive-mounted E-TEC engines and then pick the next longer available cable. I just did not know how Evinrude views the published length of their harnesses.

Are Evinrude or Johnson MWS cable lengths sold as end to end (connector to connector) or just the protected un-striped center section?

I see that they are sold in 15', 20' and 28' lengths. The two I currently have don't have a part number stamped anywhere so I can't measure and validate.

Good point, it makes sense to use Deutsch if the e-tec uses them internally. It may be helpful to have extra pins and the right crimp tool around.

Any idea why the e-tec NMEA to EMM connector is not a Deutsch type?

I am assuming all the MWS cable connectors are all Deutsch too.
