Re: REVENGE 22 Hull Drains

Q18: what restrains the fuel tank from fore and aft movement if there is no foam surrounds at those ends of the fuel tank? Quite honestly, I believe the adhesion of the expanding foam on each side of the tank is sufficient to prevent the tank from moving. I had some experience using the expanding f...

Re: REVENGE 22 Hull Drains

VANCE-- before I poured the foam on each side of the plastic tank, I placed two 1-inch PVC pipes running the length of the tank on both the port and starboard side of the tank. These PVC pipes facilitate moving water from the bow gap in the tank cavity to the stern gap in the tank cavity. I then use...

Re: 1989 OUTRAGE 22 Fuel Tank Replacement

Hi Vance--I added a drain from that section of the molding from which water can not leave into the tank cavity. I think it is coming in that way, given the age of the weather stripping around the cabin. If the deck is wet, it also can get in from openings that exist from the starboard rigging tunnel...

Crossing Rouge River Bar in Oregon

This is a scary story--for me. CROSSING THE ROUGE RIVER BAR IN OREGON In 2020 I had a frightening experience crossing the Rogue River Bar in Oregon. The bar was restricted to boats 16-feet-and-larger at the time of the crossing. I was in my 1979 Revenge V-22 powered by a Johnson 225-HP four-stroke-p...

Re: 1989 OUTRAGE 22 Fuel Tank Replacement

I refurbished a plastic fuel tank on my Revenge 22. The fuel cavity is identical [to something]. On my boat I installed a 1-inch fiberglass tube between the fuel compartment and the rear compartment to be a drain. At the end of each trip in the ocean, I [un-plug] this tube. Re: Problem with Water in Fuel Tank Cavity

Removing the water in the fuel tank cavity is a big deal for us that have the belowdeck, polyethylene fuel tanks, as the water pressure on the bottom of the tank will cause the tank to deform, reducing the tank capacity dramatically (mine was reduced from 70 to 53 gallons). To fix this, I installed ...

Re: Outrage 77-gallon Fuel Tank Dimensions

I saw that tank when I was looking for options on my tank project. As the tank does not have fuel in it, you could cut the fill out, and replace with an aluminum plate with a fill welded onto it. Does your boat have the original plastic tank in it? You could refurbish it like I did mine.

Re: Replacing Outrage 22 fuel tank

As far as installing a pump in the tank cavity for removing water, the National Electric Code would require the pump and wiring to be explosion proof. Phil is very correct. After a very extensive search of plastic tanks, I only found 1 or 2 that might fit. However none fit exactly, and you would need to modify or create a proper support system for them in the cavity.

It sounds to me like the ground side of the gauge now gets 12 volts on it when the ignition is turned on. A simple check would be to clip a volt meter to the back of each leg on the gauge. I bet you will read 12 volts to ground from each, when the ignition is turned on. If you were to put the voltme...

I have actually seen this done on a 1979 V-22 Revenge. You would have to talk to Garris about its effectiveness, but I believe it is not a bad idea.
