Re: Boat for Long Island Sound: c.2002 230 OUTRAGE

Flagship Marine in Stratford [Connecticut] continues to service and sell E-TEC engines.

If you buy the boat, you might want to bring the engine there for service. Jonas is a good guy and takes great care of these engines.

Re: Whaler 22 roller to bunk

[On my trailer I removed the] rollers and put 2x6 [what was later clarified to be pressure treated lumber] in their place. Four in the back, two in the middle, and a couple rollers. This works well for me.

Re: REVENGE 22 Hull Drains

Q15: Where is the drain located that you installed in the fuel tank cavity? The drain is located on the aft bulkhead between the fuel tank and [the aft cockpit livewell]. The previous owner had dug out some foam at the back of the tank which makes it easy for water to collect and drain out. The dra...

Re: REVENGE 22 Hull Drains

I put a drain in the fuel tank cavity on my 1979 V-22. I leave the drain open all the time. I keep a drain plug ready if I need to [plug the new drain installed in the fuel tank cavity]. I don’t use [the aft cockpit livewell] as a livewell so [keeping the new fuel tank cavity drain open all the time...

Re: Modifying the 22-foot Hull for Better Control of Water Draining

I like the fiberglass drain tubes. I’m taking [hull modifications] a step further and just glassing over the drains. The rigging tubes and forward locker on my 1979 OUTRAGE 22 drain into the main sump anyway. I think you’ll actually find that you want [to re-install the] clam shells in front of the ...

Re: Honda 225 mounting on 22 Guardian

I’m currently 3 holes up with my Honda 225 on my 1979 Outrage 22.

I’d actually consider going up to the last hole, but am also thinking about putting a bracket on the boat so I’ll restart the “where to mount the engine” conversation at that time.

I also put a drain in the rear of the fuel cavity. [Every time the drain is unplugged] some water [flows] out. Sometimes [the water that flows out is] from that day. At other times I feel like [the water that flows out of the fuel tank cavity drain is] just water from the foam that is finally making...

Re: 1986 Outrage 25 Drain Problems

A simple solution is to install a new drain tube connecting the two areas. I did this on my Outrage 22 to alleviate this same problem.

Use the same 1-inch brass tubing as are used for the through hull drains, and flare the ends. Be sure that it is slightly angled downwards into the aft fishwell.

Re: 1989 22 Outrage Whaler Drive: Re-power with Twin E-TEC G2 150-HP

What [is the manufacturer's recommended full-throttle engine speed range for an E-TEC G2 three-cylinder 1.9-liter 150. H.O.] Is a top engine speed of 5,400-ROM too low? A maximum boat speed of 47-MPH looks good, but [should the E-TEC be] getting closer to [an engine speed of] 5800 to 6000-RPM [at fu...

Set of these 140 or 150s vs a 300 G2 what would you do?

I would cover that round hole, but first, coat the exposed core with epoxy. Then on that opening where all the rigging comes up, add a ‘dam’. I have that Honda 225 on my OUTRAGE 22, and it is great.

Seawater will come over your transom regardless of the engine, so have your pumps ready unless you build blocks on the sides of the engine.

Re: Outrage 22 Stored on Roller Trailer

Ive seen this boat at the marina next to the Port Jeff Ferry dock. I called about it and considered it for maybe a couple grand. I'd say $2,000 cash. It's been sitting uncovered for years and needs lots of elbow grease, but go for it and make it your own. Might need to add fuel tank or certainly at ...

Re: 255 Conquest versus 235 Conquest-need advice

Typically more waterline is your friend, meaning better ride. I haven't been in either [boat] so [I] can't help with direct experience.

A running time of 400 hours isn't bad at all. Look more closely at the whole package, including the ride, and see what boat is right for you and your family.
