JimH, switch to disk brakes and they will serve you and your heirs rather well in that fresh water. I'm a saltwater guy in Florida and since 2015 only one refurbishment which did not require too many expensive, hard to replace components. I'm anticipating the next one soon.

Gulf of Mexico, get a T-top if you plan on fishing. Get a good one that has about 1/3 more square footage than most boat manufacturers provide. Whaler is one of the better T-top suppliers as their tops are larger and provide more shade. Other boat makers skimp on the T-top and they become worthless.

In looking at the 2016 owner's manual I do not see a T-top being offered as an option. However I do see the reinforcement location diagram indicates that there are four attachment points in the deck that are reinforced with phenolic and if similar to my 210 Outrage it is where the T-top is attached....

If he was 86 miles off the coast of Port Canaveral he was not going to be anchored up. Waters way too deep there most likely 500-750 feet deep. I tend to agree with Phil. The story line smells fishy but then again it is Florida and the lucky guy may qualify as another "Florida Man"
