When I replaced the boat's fuel tank last winter, I first pulled the old tank from my Outrage 25 and gave it to a local fabricator to copy. Why not do the same in your case?

I need to replace the core material in the forward port and starboard hatches on the deck just ahead of the console. I want to get all the materials before I start the job. Does anyone know the thickness of the core material? I plan to replace the wooden core with divinycell.

Re: New to boating; interested in used Whaler
In those waters I would NOT recommend the Montauk. It will get really uncomfortable on the rips and in the afternoon SW chop. The Outrage 18, 20, 21 or 22 would all be much better choices. There are several good ones on Craigslist Cape Cod. This advice is based on 45 years of boating on Nantucket an...

It won't be a whaler because it will no longer be unibond construction. The repair is significant enough that you will have lost the structural integrity that resulted from the original construction method. If you are repairing to keep and use then go for it. Although I would not bother to repair it...

I had a similar problem. The way I was able to thread the new tube through was to push it through with a wooden dowel that fit inside the tube. The dowel was much longer than the tube.
