Re: 22 outrage refit
Man, that's ugly! You may be able to have a new gunwale cut by a local woodshop using your original as a pattern. Where are you located?

Re: 1983 Outrage 25 repower
If I'm not mistaken your Outrage 25 is rated for a max of 300hp. Single or twins, it's a tough call with the reliability of today's outboards...especially so with Yamaha. Don't get me wrong, twins are nice. Almost always will at least one of them will get you home and low speed maneuverability in ti...

Re: 1983 Outrage 25 repower
Howdy G, I think you may be mistaken about the F150 not being available in counter-rotation. Of the four engines available in Yamaha's I4 series, the F175 appears to be the only one where counter-rotation is not offered. http://yamahaoutboards.com/outboards/Inline-4/features Good luck with your repo...

Re: Plywood blues
Hi Don,
Yes, you are correct. The gunwales are genuine Boston Whaler and were factory installed.
According to her original owner, the fiberglass version was available as an option in 1986.

Plywood blues
Howdy all, I'm beginning to have a problem with my 1986 Outrage 20 with fiberglass gunwales. The plywood backing in the gunwales is rotting out much in the same way the plywood backing in a gas tank lid does. I suspect it would be a pretty cut and dry process of replacing the plywood once the gunwal...

As a non factory installed option, $31,000 for the gizmo, and installation additional.

Re: Icom Radio NMEA 0183 Interface
I had a similar problem when I tried to interface my Garmin 70dv to an Icom 412. The solution for me was having to go into the network settings of the Garmin and set both the input and output NMEA 0183 serial ports to "open". Might be something to look into with your HDS Gen3. Hope this he...

Re: The Story of the Restoration of a 13-footer
When the time comes, a pretty good supplier for Starboard and marine lumber in Ft Lauderdale is Wood-Chip Marine Lumber & Supplies, 3301 South Andrews. Their number is (954) 522-1481. I think you'll find a 4x8 sheet of 3/4" Starboard will run somewhere around $350-$375 a sheet. Shipping cha...

I have to agree with macfam. Even though wood appointments can be a pain in the ass to maintain, nothing says classic Boston Whaler quite like the brightwork.

Re: 1986 Outrage 18 Bow Cleat Removal
Heat the area around the mounting screws with an electric heat gun to expand the screw from metal. This may take a while as Marinium is an aluminum alloy and as such will tend to dissipate the heat throughout the entire casting. When temperature is reached (160-180), soak the area around the screw h...
