APPRAISAL: 1984 Montauk 19 E-TEC 90 and Trailer

What is a reasonable price for a 1984 Montauk [17] with a 2008 E-TEC 90-HP engine and Karavan galvanized trailer. It’s in really nice shape and everything is fully functional. The boat is located in north Alabama, there is no bottom paint. It's stored inside, and hasn't really been used more than on...

FS: Johnson 4.5hp long-shaft outboard with battery charging

For sale in Alabama, 1982 Johnson 4.5hp long-shaft outboard with alternator output for charging battery. I've used this for a kicker on my Montauk a few times, but don't go really far enough out to need it anymore. It's in good shape and runs good. Comes with new 3-gallon tank and hose. $500 photos ...

Re: Repair of Loose Screw Fasteners

Jim, Thanks for the detailed description. Do you know if the West repair kit that is available has both the resin and filler? For my project, the bow rail mounts that attach to the deck on the port and starboard side of the bow locker are stripped and loose. Based on your description above, after th...

According to the chart at shop.evinrude.com

V = special gear case
L = 20" shaft
S = 0 (first digit model year)
I = 1 (second digit model year)

1984 MONTAUK 17: Adding Bow Platform

On my 1984 Montauk I have a wooden platform directly in front of the console that rests on the lip inside below the gunwale. I'm currently using strips of a non-slip material (originally intended to go under rugs on hardwood floors) on each side to protect the gel coat, however this is proving diffi...

Perdido Pass boat accident

More likely than not, it seems the phrases "No one aboard was wearing a PFD" or "Alcohol might have been a factor" are always included in news reports like this. http://www.al.com/news/mobile/index.ssf/2016/06/four_injured_in_boat_crash_at.html#incart_river_mobile_home_pop

1984 Montauk with E-TEC 90 Fuel Economy

I just finished a round trip on the Tennessee River to Chattanooga, Tennessee from Guntersville, Alabama, [traveling in a 1984 Boston Whaler MONTAUK with an Evinrude E-TEC 90-HP engine]. The total length of the trip was 229-miles using 34-gallons of fuel for a 6.7-MPG average. There were three adult...

Re: Moeller 22-gallon On-deck Fuel Tank

I just installed the white model of this tank over the weekend on my 1984 Montauk. If the tank was placed far enough forward to clear the opening in the deck for the fuel hose, the tank cap couldn't be removed as it was blocked by the bottom of the seat. I had to install the tank by resting it on tw...

Re: Fuel Along Tennessee River in Tennessee and Alabama

Parthery, thanks for the details regarding upriver from Nickajack. We are very excited to see that area from the water. We have driven along I-24 many times and it is beautiful. I'm also looking forward to getting a better idea of fuel consumption on my 1984 Montauk powered by a 90hp Evinrude E-TEC.

Re: Moeller 22-gallon On-deck Fuel Tank

JohnW, you mentioned if fits perfectly on your 1986 Montauk. Were you able to use the original opening/tunnel access for the fuel line? After reading the long discussion about this tank on the old forum, there seemed to be conflicting reports if that was possible or if a new access hole to the riggi...

Re: Fuel Along Tennessee River in Tennessee and Alabama

It's regular gasoline I'll need. I'm in the planning stages of a trip on the Tennessee River from Decatur Alabama to Chattanooga Tennessee and then back to Decatur. I will certainly take a look at Active Captain. The Corps of Engineers have some excellent charts in PDF form for my route. http://www....
