Re: Fuel Tank Installation without Foam

I installed an aluminum 40 gallon tank without foam into a 1973 19'. This works well in this boat as water does not pass over the top of the tank like it does on newer Outages. I left a 1" plugged, access hole in the cover for checking and water removal by pump. Tank was just block shimmed in a...

Re: Re-core rotten deck cover

I have done the job. I think $4500 is a fair price to do it right. If someone offered me that money to do the job, I would turn them away-

Re: Replacement fuel tank: 1976 Outrage 19

There are no plastic tanks that will fit into your tank cavity available. You will have to have a new aluminum one made, either Florida Marine or a maker in NJ, can't remember their name-

Screws should be #14, 1/4". 1" should be fine, but you can go up to 1 1/4".

Re: Repair OUTRAGE 18 Hull Damage; a Casualty of Hurricane Harvey

The only hard part of this repair is the color matching. It takes knowing color theory. You might be better to pay someone with these skills to do the gel coat. If you try it yourself, make sure you are happy with the color match before you proceed.

Re: More Than Bottom Paint Needed

Your boat suffers from severe blistering. The blisters have opened, and much of the original gelcoat is damaged, or just plain gone. The best approach would be to soda blast the bottom, fill all the holes, etc. with thickened epoxy, and then apply a 5 or six coats of epoxy. You are going to need man...

Re: 1974 Outrage 19 likely for sale

Your boat has great potential. I am trying to complete the same boat, in about the same condition. I bought mine for $6500, with a Suzuki DF140 with 40 hours, and a new fuel tank. So, these boats just don't bring much money, and to restore them takes a ton of time and money. I think $4000 is a good ...

Re: Recommend Fuel Tank Tester; Finding Source of Water in Fuel

The tank in your boat is almost thirty years old. ALL of the Outrage tank cavities of the 70's and 80's leak to some degree, due to poor design, and even with the best of care, leak rain water. Getting the tank pressure tested will most likely confirm that it is leaking. You can do it yourself, just...

Moon Dust is very close, a bit on the light side. You can add a little brown and a little blue tint to come as close as you are ever going to get-

Re: 1983 Outrage 18' New member looking for advice

There is no way to remove the water from a Boston Whaler boat once it is absorbed by its foam. I would move on to another boat, as this is a major problem for this boat.
