Re: 1976 OUTRAGE 19 Re-power

I have owned [a c.1976 OUTRAGE 19] powered with the Suzuki 140. Do yourself a favor and listen to your dealer and go for the 150. The boat can use the additional weight in the rear. The boat will be bow heavy with the [140] engine. The [140] engine is also shy of the claimed 140-HP. Top [boat speed]...

Dock is located on Winnapaug Pond in Westerly, Rhode Island. The pond is saltwater and tidal. The location is the west end, north shore. I built the dock 15 years ago. It is 100-feet long, as was needed to get some water depth. The photo from my front yard.

8-1/2-inches.

Re: Raising Engine Height

The jack plate weighs 19 pounds.

The person drilling the top holes drilled them 1/4" different. If he didn't use a jig, easy to do. Motor does seat tight to top of transom on both side, so may have been intentional.

Dock Talk on Suzuki DF140

Any time the Suzuki DF140 comes up, I feel the need to comment. This is a wonderful engine, however it is not a 140-HP engine. It is no more than a 125-HP. It compares very closely in power output to an old Mercury 115 tower-of-power six-cylinder from the 1970's, a bit stronger, but not much.
