As some of you may remember a number a number of years ago I did a few Illustrations of a 17 Montauk and a 21 Ribside. I also created a bow profile decal of a Whaler. The 16' and 17' hulls both had the same exact same 16'7" centerline length, so one was not smaller than the other. Whaler called the 16'7" Hulls 16's up through the 1975 model year. These were known as non smirked hulls. In 1976 Whaler released the updated 16'7" hull and it had the bo...

Since the ice broke, my son has been on me to go for a boat ride. So we threw the project 15 (getting prepped for new gelcoat) in our lake and cruised. Interesting enough, we found out the 15' hull will plane off with as little as 6hp. Which is what I plan to keep it on there for the kids to learn w...

The GPH Fuel burn is going to greatly be effected by the speed at which you operate the boat at. That said, the classic 17 Montauk can easily achieve a 4-5.5 MPG cruise even with an old thirsty [carburetor] 2-Stoke. For the teak, it is all personal preference on the look you want. I assume you are referring to only the current line-up.
The reason the small boat line up is limited and not growing is because there is little ROI/Profit Margin in those boats for a company the size of Boston Whaler. Their margins grow as the hull size grows.
