Re: KING StarBoard to Build Steering Console for SPORT 15

I agree with 3/4" Starboard for the console.
Also, careful marking your Starboard with pencil when measuring.....it won't come off!
In addition, I have bonded Starboard successfully with 3M ScotchWeld 8005 2 part adhesive. Adding mechanical fasteners is also a wise move.

We had a 1964 Boston Whaler NAUSET. It was powered by a three-cylinder 70-HP Mercury two-stroke-power-cycle engine. Never had a stainless propeller in those days. I always felt the NAUSET was adequately powered. It was not uncommon to see those hulls powered by 55-HP engines.

With all the limitations, if it were me personally: 17 Montauk, 50-70 hp two stroke, trailer. It may slightly exceed towing capacity, but I'd still go for it. My opinion: Kids grow, and add friends. Your best bet is a 17 Classic Montauk, or if affordable, a 170 (newer style) Montauk, of even a 150 Montauk if you can get a good deal. Engine: To start, something DEPENDABLE. Low hours and well maintained. 2 or 4 stroke doesn't matter to get you started. You ...
