How far out are you trimming the engine? In the pic it does not look trimmed at all or barely. You need to trim it all the way out until it breaks loose and then blip it down until it catches(at WOT). At cruise you want a nice flat wake, no tall skinny wake and no spray from the sides.

You can get a 300 Suzuki near me for under $18,000; Yamaha wants almost $5,000 more. I have never priced a Mercury ;)

Does the VERADO engine still have the 6-bolt mount?

That mount may not allow for a re-power on older hulls—from what I remember reading years ago.

Macfam is correct but I have left mine in for up to a week with no problems. I don't think I would try longer. I know many who leave it in from Friday to Sunday or Monday with no problems. In Florida you really can't go more than a week or you will start barnacle growth which is so much fun to clean.

You always match a prop with the engine trimmed out to the max. If you don't you will be under propped. I usually get another 500-RPM when the engine is trimmed out at WOT and that is where I measure my max rpm. In other words if I am running full tilt boogie and trim the engine back in, I will usua...

Boat $300
Rubrail $250
Interior $700ish
Used trailer $650

Glass mat, resin, gelcoat, etc $1000 easy

What ever the redline is or just below. You d not want to baby a 2 stroke as it will probably self destruct before from carbon buildup , etc. The hours are low, run it conservative like you are doing but don't be afraid to kick it up once a day or so.

If you are running 40 with a W/D I doubt your foam is totally waterlogged. A W/D model is rated for 300hp I believe so a 200(even a H.O) is at the bottom of the range and in my opinion 40 is not bad.
