Before you go one step further on painting, DETAIL the boat.

If you don't have shiny gelcoat, you have oxidation. A detail will remove oxidation. Once you have detailed the boat, then consider what to do or not to do.

I would consider going up in pitch in the same model prop to see if you can pick up a bit of speed. A 15" or 16" will still keep you in the recommended WOT range. Can you find a seller that will allow returns? We prop the engine not for top speed rather for efficient operation at all speeds.

You are correct. Moving the battery to the center console (cut the shelf so it rests on the deck) will ofset the added weight in the stern.

The boat can handle the added weight.

Unscrew the cleats on the deck and replace the bungie cord. Sold by the foot in a local hardward store. C hook to the hole in the center of the handle base.

Seal the cleat screw holes on reassembly with Boat Life and not adhesive.

There are covers and there are trailerable covers. Trailerable covers need to fit well and are tight with straps to keep it in place. Areas in contact with the console, rails need to be reinforced. The vent is in the cap.

No to installing a fuel demand valve. Not required. They cause nothing but trouble. You don't need this.

Sorry to be the naysayer but I don't like the tank not fully supported. This design could lead to a structural failure down the road.

Make sure the dealer installs the engine with the top bolt in the third hole down from the top.

In the end you will want to switch to a stainless steel propeller. They are more efficient, and with the limited horsepower, you'll need all the efficiency you can get.

Try starting with a 11-3/4 x 14 Suzuki stainless steel propeller.

The Montauk was not introduced until 1973.

If you have a wooden center console, it could be a Nauset, Sakonnet or other 16' model.

Padre - It could be "Shipping" or "Shipping (including "handling").

Freight charges have been under pressure due to higher costs. Diesel is still $1 to $3 a gallon more since whenever it went into stupid expensive territory.
